[Suoming cosplay] Planning Gacha Pulls in Wuthering Waves: Sharing Outdoor Convention Shoot Insights for This Red hair and Black Dress Look - Image 2

This set for Wuthering Waves Suoming cosplay is from a recent photo session, which I decided to post alongside my gacha pull planning thoughts. When preparing this styling, the most labor-intensive part was the Red hair twin buns; the wig required curling irons to shape the curves, followed by generous amounts of styling spray to lock them into specific circular forms, otherwise they would easily collapse. The light-blue flower on top and the golden hair accessories were attached individually, requiring careful balance adjustment so they wouldn't tilt during shooting.

For makeup, to complement the primary black tone of the outfit, I deepened the red smudging at the outer eye corners. The blue rose choker around my neck served as the perfect finishing touch, echoing the blue auspicious cloud embroidery along the skirt hem. The irregular red pattern on the chest was hand-painted with pigments, offering far superior texture compared to basic printed fabric.

On the day of the shoot at the convention, the venue was packed. To steer clear of crowds, we directly repurposed a black suitcase on site as a prop. The side-sitting pose in the first photo beautifully displays the upper body tailoring and arm sleeves, while the second photo switches to a front-facing, legs-crossed seated pose—which I consider the most commanding angle—due to the sharp material contrast between the black Long boots and the white pleated underskirt. Although black Long boots absorb intense heat under outdoor sun and walking all day left my feet aching, boots of this height and structure were indispensable for capturing the character's fierce yet slightly tsundere presence. Another little challenge was the strong breeze blowing my Red hair around, which required multiple makeup touch-ups.

Since I am currently planning my pull strategy in Wuthering Waves and saving resources for upcoming banners, releasing this set now felt very timely. Capturing a character faithfully relies not just on garments and props, but on projecting that cool, subtly aggressive gaze. Most shots utilized natural sunlight, with the photographer using a reflector to soften facial shadows and accentuate the saturation of the Red hair. During post-processing, I only made minor color temperature adjustments to preserve the original costume textures. Pull-wise, I hope sharing this set brings some good gacha luck so I can secure my desired targets while keeping this passion alive.
