Starting with the preparations for today's Velina shoot: the wig needed a textured, voluminous lift with an ahoge cowlick, requiring generous amounts of styling wax and hairspray. Choppy white short hair easily casts harsh, artificial glares under intense lighting, placing strict demands on our lighting angles. The wardrobe featured a color-blocked ensemble in navy blue and black, trimmed at the neckline with white ruffles and golden hardware; I added white gloves to enrich the visual expression of hand gestures. To channel the commanding presence defined in the character's design, I recalibrated the gloves and micro-details multiple times. Our shoot utilized a large white harp as a centerpiece prop; this piece was exceptionally delicate, with string tension and perimeter carvings demanding utmost care during transport, closely watched over by our logistics assistant to prevent any scuffs.
Along my legs were white lace stockings (Stockings), paired with white high heels accented with rhinestone-studded straps. These touches were incredibly flattering on camera, especially when reclining sideways along the sofa, where the leg contours and lace weave harmonized to showcase the character's elegance and sensuality. Because the character embodies a subtly dangerous, aloof glamour, we settled on propping the chin in one hand with crossed legs. This posture conveyed effortless languor while accentuating leg curves and footwear nuances, with blurred blue foliage in the foreground adding rich compositional depth.
The location was a classical interior dressed with stained glass windows and Roman pillars. Reclining across an ornate white European sofa with a cloak cushioned behind me, photographer Maijin Beiwo proved masterful at capturing chiaroscuro, guiding me into a composition inspired by a Bangboo perspective. The overarching palette leaned toward cool, moody blues, instantly evoking an ethereal yet mildly melancholic atmosphere. We explored various stances before cementing the chin-propped, crossed-leg posture. Zhiyuan Baijiu was a tremendous help on logistics, overseeing wardrobe adjustments and prop placement to ensure a seamless workflow.
As a cosplayer, every photoshoot challenges personal expressiveness. Velina demands a composed, unspoken intimidation; I strove to articulate this contradiction through a relaxed gaze and effortless body language. Wearing high heels for hours made my feet ache, yet maintaining peak condition before the lens was non-negotiable for the visual outcome. This photoset conveys my personal interpretation of the character and stands as a testament to our team's shared craftsmanship. Stripped of overly complicated pretense, our goal was purely to freeze this styling and setting in time, and I sincerely hope everyone feels that dedicated care.
