Exploring Vivian's look under the worldview of Zenless Zone Zero, this shoot in a vintage scene required a lot of thought regarding set design and props.
The theme of this shoot is a combination of exquisiteness and mystery. In terms of hair and makeup, the light purple long wavy hair paired with pointed elf ears is the absolute highlight. To highlight the character's temperament, we specially chose a lightweight, light-colored wig that presents a soft luster under the lights. For clothing, the pure white loose bell-sleeved shirt forms a clean black-and-white contrast with the black ribbon at the neckline. A black corset made of patent leather is used at the waist, which not only outlines the body curves but its stiff leather and the metal hanging chains underneath also add plenty of layers to the overall styling. The layered black, white, and blue skirt hem of the lower body, paired with black stockings, allows the character to maintain elegance while adding a touch of capable charm.
For props, we intentionally selected items with a vintage European style. The large black-and-white umbrella printed with a moth silhouette perfectly echoes the character's mysterious side. In addition to serving as a pivot for movements, when holding the umbrella open, the cuffs drop naturally, which beautifully displays the tailoring of the garment. During the shoot, I also experimented with various prop combinations, such as holding a goblet gently against my lower lip, or holding a folding fan to catch reflections, which perfectly fit the old-fashioned wooden gramophone and rotary telephone in the background. The small vintage wooden box on the table containing roses and a clock added a layer of narrative tension to the frame.
The coordination of light and shadow played a vital role in this set of photos. The red and dark green curtains in the background, paired with warm yellow string light bulbs, create a stage-like dreamy atmosphere while softening the figure's silhouette. Instead of using overly harsh studio lights, we simulated the texture of ambient light, making the reflections on the purple hair strands and the white shirt fabric look completely natural. During the shoot, the photographer specifically guided me to capture moments with eye contact, such as clasping hands beneath my jaw or closing my eyes to feel the warmth of the lights, all of which made this official photoset look much more vivid rather than just rigidly holding poses.
As a cosplayer, recreating a character is not just about wearing the same clothes, but more importantly, about conveying that temperament through body language. In this photoset, whether it's the slight narrowing of the gaze or the relaxed posture when holding the props, everything strives to get close to Vivian's slightly lazy elegance. The layering of this costume's skirt hem and corset looks incredibly beautiful when moving, and a slight turn of the body can display a different dynamic level for this Cosplay outfit.
This shoot was not only a character portrayal but also an attempt at vintage aesthetics and self-expression. The overall Vintage vibe and exquisiteness endow this set of Vivian cosplay works with unique ornamental value. I hope everyone likes the sparks created by the collision between this vintage stage and a 2D character from miHoYo.
