[Vivian cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Messenger in the Rain: Strolling Through the Exhibition Hall with a Long Umbrella

Whether seen through the morning mist at dawn or navigating neon streets brimming with urban sci-fi ambiance, the character Vivian always carries a sense of serenity detached from reality. Today, I completed this Zenless Zone Zero Vivian cosplay photoshoot in Area 4B of the exhibition hall.

Regarding the details of this outfit, I'd like to start with the overall texture. For the wig, I selected smooth, straight silver-white hair styled with trimmed heavy bangs. Owing to the character's traits, I specially incorporated Elf ear makeup and styling on both sides of my face, paired with reddish-orange colored contact lenses. This visually preserved her aloof composure while revealing a sharp gaze at specific angles. During makeup application, the focus was placed on layering the eyeshadow—layering subtle shimmer over an earth-toned base so that the gaze remained vivid and expressive even under the venue's intense spotlights.

The costume design is something I adore. The upper body's primary color is pure white, cut in a drop-shoulder wide-sleeve silhouette, with fine blue linear patterns adorning the elbow and wrist transitions to give the flared sleeves a structured rhythm. At the neckline, a dark-blue bow tie creates a striking color contrast against the white inner lining. Two asymmetrical leather-textured belts in dark blue and black cinch the waist, complemented by delicate silver metal chains hanging down, adding a touch of heavy-metal techwear flair to the overall look.

The lower skirt design is full of personality: the front features a conventional short white skirt, while the outer layer is wrapped in large panels of asymmetrical blackish-gray fabric folded and tied around the waist like a cape. Paired with semi-sheer Anime black stockings, it flatters the leg shape under the lighting without muddying the visual layers. To ensure stability while moving around the convention floor, I chose moderate-heeled black patent leather platform pumps with chunky heels, balancing support and comfort. Best of all, a dark bow is tied around the ankle to echo the neckline, maximizing the attention to detail.

What deserves the most attention is naturally the long-handle umbrella in my hand. It is quite large, featuring a gradient base of deep purple and black decorated with cloud-like patterns and pale pinkish-white petals. Both the ribs and shaft feature a brushed-metal finish, and the umbrella ferrule is uniquely crafted into a sharp, tapered metal rod. Our prop team put tremendous effort into creating this umbrella, as in the character's setting, it is not merely an object for rain protection, but a distinctive symbol of identity.

When shooting this set in the exhibition hall, the lighting environment was quite intricate. The ceiling had an expansive industrial layout lined with numerous spotlights, along with various behind-the-scenes softboxes and photographic gear. For lighting, we adopted a rim-backlight strategy paired with gentle frontal fill light, casting a subtle halo along the edges of the silver hair strands to bypass distracting ambient light and separate the subject cleanly from the 4B exhibition pillars in the background.

The shooting tempo differed slightly between the two photos. The pose in Photo 1 leaned toward static presentation: holding the umbrella with one hand while lightly supporting the shaft with a grounded center of gravity, primarily showcasing the full outfit silhouette and the unfolded canopy patterns. In Photo 2, we aimed for dynamic motion—lifting one leg slightly and holding the open umbrella overhead with both hands, creating a lighter, more spirited pose. Shifting the center of gravity also fully elongated the Anime black stockings in action, visually extending the leg lines. Capturing such poses actually requires solid core control; fortunately, the shoes were very stable with great grip, preventing any loss of balance.

From crafting accessories to deliberating over fine details, the entire look was built to maximize the character's visual impact. Walking through the venue with layered skirts and flared sleeves brought some slight inconvenience, but the moment the umbrella unfolded and the long silver hair gently swayed with movement, an immersive sense of character connection instantly surfaced. These Convention photos avoided excessive post-processing effects, preserving realistic material textures and lighting atmosphere as much as possible.

Reflecting on these Convention photos from the venue, as I walked past Area 4B, occasionally hearing passersby quietly call out the character's name made all the preparation feel truly worthwhile. There was no forced scene-setting or excessive symbolic elements—just letting the character naturally transition from the streets into the convention space.
