[Belle cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Summer Outdoor Shoot: Capturing an Energetic Girl Escaping into Midsummer

Capturing a little Belle escaping into the summer: this midsummer outdoor shoot was truly a love-hate journey.

Shooting outdoors under the scorching sun meant heat waves hit the moment I stepped out of the shade. While this outfit looks breezy, the long-sleeved sheer mesh top still had me breaking into a light sweat under the blazing sun to achieve the best visuals. Fortunately, my sweatproof and waterproof makeup base held firm, which, coupled with clean on-site fill light, prevented the foundation from melting. A delicate necklace with a green wavy pendant around my neck formed a vibrant color clash with the bright yellow disc earrings, making the details pop before the lens. The black bucket hat featured a bright yellow lining that echoed the shorts while shielding my eyes from harsh glare, keeping expressions intact.

The bright yellow athletic shorts on the lower half not only radiated summer vitality but also facilitated dynamic motion with their side slits. In the first shot, I rested one hand on my hip and placed the other against my chin with a slight head tilt. While seemingly simple, keeping core stability was vital to prevent stiffness. To capture that uninhibited mood, we launched into candid jump-and-hop captures across the gray-tiled plaza.

Leaning into the summer escape theme, I ditched my shoes entirely to go barefoot. Stepping across sun-baked tiles while executing airy leaps tested foot grip and expression control. Yet running toward the lens with arms wide or leaping high on one leg, feeling the breeze whip past, delivered an exhilarating rush of escaping the heat and embracing summer freedom.

We brought along a Sony A7R6 paired with the 50150GM and 2870GM lenses. The 50150GM excelled at medium portraits with creamy, oil-painting bokeh, cleanly resolving catchlights in the eyes and individual hair strands; the 2870GM was perfect for capturing full-body movements against wide environmental backdrops, turning venue scaffolding and orange-and-white warning tape into an industrial-chic contrast that broke the fourth wall.

Halfway through, I pinched my cheeks with both hands or pointed right toward the lens, where shallow depth of field infused the frames with playful interactivity. Adjusting my hat with both hands caught shifting patterns of light and shadow across my face. Striving to keep eyes open against the sun occasionally resulted in subtle squints that serendipitously yielded charming candid moments.

Resetting the hat and smoothing the mesh top's folds before stepping back in front of the lens, the physical exertion rivaled an intense workout. Yet seeing the vivid, life-affirming frames on screen made the heat and exhaustion evaporate instantly. Summer should be this passionate and alive, and this Energetic girl Summer outfit locked in pure midsummer spirit. Outdoor photography may be grueling, but capturing these sparkling moments is the sweetest reward.
