The preparation period for this Suzuran Cosplay wasn't very long, but I'm quite satisfied with the overall result. I started prepping makeup and the wig at 6:00 AM today; to recreate Suzuran's soft blonde hair and emerald-green eyes, trimming the wig took quite some time, and I selected particularly clear, luminous green colored contacts. As for the costume, layered shades of pink and red featured structured inner lining, with wide, flowing sleeves designed to capture the authentic feel of a Japanese-style girl. The most demanding part was the massive fox tail in the back—it was very heavy and took considerable effort to secure properly for this Kemonomimi cosplay.
Because the anime convention venue was packed with people, we found a spot in front of an antique Japanese-style building for the shoot. The costume fabric wrinkled easily, requiring constant smoothing between takes. During the shoot, the leaning pose over the railing in Photo 4 was tricky to strike because finding my center of gravity was difficult—I had to brace myself against the wooden railing while maintaining gentle facial expressions. The pose in Photo 2 leaning back on my hands was also a test of balance; leaning against thick wooden beams required arm strength while keeping a natural gaze toward the camera.
To capture the best shots, the photographer constantly helped adjust angles. We ultimately selected this set of photos, which made perfect use of the background's red pillars and wooden doors and windows, giving the overall color palette rich visual depth. At the venue, I met many players who love Suzuran from Arknights, taking group photos and chatting together in a wonderful atmosphere that made waking up early totally worthwhile. Later, while browsing booths together, moving around with the trailing tail was a bit cumbersome for turning, but fellow fans offered lots of friendly help.
Getting home and shedding the heavy makeup, wig, and tail brought immense relief. Although cosplayers must go through tedious preparations for every photoshoot, bringing a beloved character to life and preserving memories in an ideal setting brings a deep sense of accomplishment. I also carefully noted areas for improvement in costume and makeup this time; if I get the chance to cosplay this character again, I'll figure out a way to make the tail lighter and easier to move around in.
