[Keqing cosplay] Opulent Splendor Convention Photos, Genshin Impact Keqing Booth Photo Return

With the convention just wrapped up, I quickly edited this set of Convention photos for Keqing (Opulent Splendor). As these are convention shots, the lighting and background on site were fairly complex; fortunately, my collaboration with the photographer went well, and we temporarily found a relatively dark spot to capture the light-and-shadow texture of the blue-and-white streamers.

Let's first talk about the details of this costume. When preparing this Keqing cosplay outfit, the most head-scratching part was the connection design between the sleeves and streamers. The Opulent Splendor dress itself features a black, blue, and gold color scheme with intricate decorations around the collar and waist—especially that loop of semi-transparent blue-and-white gauze paired with wrist wraps, which can look extremely messy before the lens if not straightened out. At the Meizhou anime convention (Meizhou Xinchen Huajuan Anime Exhibition), I specifically paired it with a light gauze long enough so that when thrown up, it wouldn't easily crease under gravity. The material's light translucency is also great, producing lovely rim light edges when combined with the overhead spotlight on set.

Shooting time was actually quite tight with heavy foot traffic at the convention, making it no easy feat to dodge crowds for a clean background. Luckily, a single spotlight fell right onto the scene, so I adjusted several poses along that lighting angle. The first and last photos depict a quiet state with hands folded across the chest and eyes lowered, attempting to convey Keqing's demeanor—seemingly distant on the surface yet delicate within. The streamers pulled forward and back formed an encircling dynamic, feeling quite ritualistic. The middle photos focused on moving the body, utilizing the inertia of swinging gauze streamers to freeze moments—like the backward lean in Photo 3, or the standing posture with arms fully spread in Photo 4, which effectively showcase the layered skirt and backless waist design of this dress.

Because the gauze material is lightweight, even a tiny air current makes it float, putting shutter-capturing pressure entirely on the photographer. Sometimes the streamer would swing above my head or obscure my face, unexpectedly creating random surprise effects. For instance, in Photo 2's head-bowed moment, the gauze flew past both sides and blocked part of the light, giving the face a much richer mood. I personally recommend this high-contrast handling for Anime-style photography during conventions; even without high-end studio equipment, a single spotlight and ambient light can build up three-dimensional depth. The charm of Convention photos lies precisely in this slightly raw authenticity and instantaneous tension—a completely different experience from the precise control of studio shoots.

Many fellow fans on site said Photo 4's frontal view had great presence; in fact, it was just a fleeting stretch where I managed to control the gauze streamers in mid-air, swinging them to both sides for a symmetrical composition. This color scheme of black base, gold threads, and blue gauze truly tests post-processing color consistency, as scattered ambient lights introduce unwanted blue shade variations. To maintain a cool yet noble vibe, I muted excess warm yellow ambient lights and emphasized highlights on the hair and blue gauze.

Equipment-wise, a medium-telephoto lens was used this time, which helped blur out cluttered background booth structures and highlight the character subject. The vibe at this Meizhou anime convention was wonderful, meeting many interesting Cosplayers and photographers all seeking proper lighting and angles to record their hard work. I've always felt that while location shoots and Convention photos may not be as polished as studio work, striving to present a character's core under limited conditions is the true essence of convention culture. Every finalized photo is an externalization of character understanding; I hope this visual rendition of Keqing's Opulent Splendor allows everyone to feel her innate elegance and resolve.
