This outdoor location shoot was selected in a natural outdoor scene with a sea of flowers and distant mountains, bringing the adventure atmosphere of Marisa Kirisame from Touhou Project into reality, which feels exceptionally wonderful.
A lot of effort went into replication for this wizard costume look. The combination of blonde hair and a large hat with ruffles is the first visual highlight; the curvature of the hat brim needed repeated adjustment to present a good effect. The short black vest is adorned with metallic-textured buttons and chains, and the cream-white high-neck lantern-sleeve top is breathable and textured, paired with a multi-layered ruffled black short skirt to form a sharp black-and-white contrast. The brown leather pouch, colorful beaded lanyard, and circular badge hanging at the waist all add layers—especially that winding-key-shaped prop, which echoes the black-and-white stripes on the broom perfectly.
Regarding the details of the white stockings and skirt hem, the combination of white over-the-knee socks and black thick-soled loafers not only elongates the visual proportions but also makes the entire styling look sharper. Under natural outdoor light, the white of the stockings and the light-colored trim of the skirt hem beautifully brighten the frame, creating a stark contrast with the dark vest. The standing pose picking up the broom in the first image fits the character's straightforward and casual traits relatively well; the sunshine is evenly sprinkled over the wig and clothes, and the contours of the distant mountains add depth to the frame. Compared to studio shoots, outdoor photography involves more uncontrollable factors, such as the wind messing up the hat brim or unexpected shadows, but nature also brings more vivid colors and a bright overall tone.
The second image shifts under a flower trellis, trying out a close-up frame of adjusting the hat brim while pinching a purple ribbon. The light is a bit softer than in the grand scene, and the frame formed by the surrounding white flowers focuses the vision more on the character's face and upper-body accessories. The wizard character's outfit has quite a lot of details, such as the design of the vest neckline and the draping of multiple metal chains at the waist, which are beautifully presented in the close-up.
This shoot did not intentionally use complex lighting, entirely relying on natural light sources, which I feel gives the costume materials a greater sense of breathing. The vast grassland, pink flowers, and distant green mountains balance out the character's classic black-and-white color scheme beautifully. Adjusting poses during the shoot was quite a workout, especially needing to constantly pay attention to the coordination between the broom prop's angle and the body posture, and the white stockings also needed to be kept clean while walking on the grass. Overall, though carrying large props to the outdoors is a bit tiring, bringing a flat-plane character into this life-filled real scene is truly a highly immersive experience. The final photos' tone is clean and natural, recording both the vitality of the outdoor grass and the wizard's sense of exploration.
