Persevering in 30°C Heat: [Nazrin cosplay] Touhou Project Photoshoot Record

Wearing layered long sleeves and a wig in 30°C weather was truly a test of endurance, making the car's AC the only lifesaver. Checking the weather forecast before heading out was genuinely disheartening, but since all the gear was ready, the shoot couldn't easily be canceled. This Touhou Project Nazrin cosplay costume features intricate details, especially the layered short grey wig. While richly textured, its thick inner cap combined with the pink-and-white plush ear accessories on top felt like wearing two hats at once—trapping heat and making me sweat constantly.

We chose a Car interior photoshoot primarily to avoid direct outdoor sunlight and utilize the soft natural light filtering through the windows. This gentle light was ideal for capturing the character's red-eyed Cosplay makeup. The large-diameter red colored contacts, paired with extensive reddish gradients around the eyes, emphasized aegyo sal, and clustered false eyelashes, gave the entire makeup look great definition and texture in natural light. Though exquisite, wearing this makeup long-term was tough on the skin; combined with the stifling wig, sweat kept beading on my forehead and sideburns, requiring constant blotting with tissues to prevent makeup from smudging.

For styling, the white lace-trimmed collar top layered under a grey denim jacket tested the garment's fit; within the cramped vehicle, slight movements easily creased the fabric, requiring frequent smoothing. To convey Nazrin's cunning and lively nature, I experimented with various angles and expressions—tilting my head slightly, casting my gaze downward, or giving a subtle pout—and the selected shots turned out very satisfying.

Due to the extreme heat, this Summer photoshoot focused primarily on facial close-ups rather than outdoor full-body shots. The skirt and shoes are also distinctive, but considering how sweat could compromise the outfit's silhouette, we skipped full-body shots to conserve energy. I've had quite a few experiences cosplaying in extreme weather; though exhausting, the moment I saw the finished photos, all the heat and fatigue felt worthwhile. I hope to keep documenting every styling detail going forward—not only to share characters, but also to record my cosplay journey. For future shoots, I'll definitely try to avoid such scorching temperatures.

Regarding shooting timing and makeup durability, there are plenty of details worth discussing. To achieve optimal results, natural light illuminated my face with distinct contrast, sculpting facial features with dimensional depth. However, 30°C sunlight beaming through the car window raised the cabin temperature and accelerated makeup oxidation. For full coverage, I used high-coverage foundation, which can easily cake in such temperatures, necessitating frequent blotting with oil-absorbing sheets. Moreover, the tight cabin required squeezing into the driver or passenger seat, holding rigid postures while managing facial expressions—a real test of physical endurance. Finding the best angles required constantly repositioning the phone, fatiguing my arms while the heavy wig strained my neck. Though enduring long sleeves in extreme heat was grueling, this specialized styling was precisely what brought the character's unique charm to life. From the softness of the plush ears and color of the contacts to every lace trim and button on the costume, everything was curated meticulously. This Car interior photoshoot served as a personal challenge. Spared from outdoor mosquitoes, navigating the stifling car environment built valuable experience for future shoots. Choosing heavier fabrics was a small compromise made in pursuit of authentic character recreation.
