[Marisa Kirisame cosplay] Touhou Project: Three Outfits Shot in One Day, Exhausted Yet Happy

Today I shot three Marisa looks, spending the whole day immersed in this character. From morning makeup preparation to wrapping up and heading home at night, everything followed the previous plan—what I called 'Touhou Project main shoot boot camp' in the post—keeping me in a state of high concentration almost the entire time. To be honest, shooting three different outfits back-to-back from start to finish really made me thank my strong physical endurance and the makeup artist's craftsmanship.

Before sharing these photos, I want to highlight this Self-styled outfit and modified white-and-gold Marisa. I made a lot of adjustments to the base outfit, wanting to faithfully reproduce elements characteristic of Touhou Project as much as possible. From the ruffled details of the giant hat to the lace trim on the skirt hem, down to that iconic Bagua Yin-Yang Orb prop, I adjusted everything as much as I could. The wig color was specifically picked as a vibrant light gold with braided styling, hoping to get closer to the character's feel. Although it's self-modified and couldn't perfectly replicate the original (like various iconic magician elements), seeing the visuals flashing across the camera screen and viewfinder after shooting left me feeling quite satisfied.

I'm also posting the selfie in P2 for everyone to see. Although I really didn't want to edit photos anymore and just exported the raw file as is, please bear with it. After all, after shooting all day and switching between three completely different sets, I was so exhausted I just wanted to slump down, and my facial expression management reached its limit. However, selfies in this natural state sometimes feel even more grounded in daily life.

Speaking of the shooting process, a huge thanks to Brother Shui and Martin for helping me shoot today. They truly accompanied me the entire way, helping me find angles, move props, and even fixing my wig and garment wrinkles. They were practically 'Touhou Project boot camp' instructors, cracking jokes while shooting to help me keep that bright, positive expression. When switching sets in the afternoon, I snapped a few photos of the camera screen previews to post; everyone can feel the lighting environment at the time. Under indoor warm lights versus outdoor natural lights, the texture delivered by this costume was completely different. As seen in the P3 screen preview, under the F2.8 large aperture, the background greenery and wooden shelves blurred beautifully, making the person stand out prominently.

I also brought many Polaroids this time, shooting thirty-two pictures in total. P4 showcases today's big pile of Polaroid results. Watching the photo paper gradually develop color, turning those instantly frozen moments into tangible photos, brings a truly unique kind of joy. Because the makeup and emotional expressions of the three outfits were all different—some bright and sunny, others slightly playful or cool—capturing so many distinct states made it totally worth it. Beside the Polaroids, I also placed some photos from previous themed shoots; the background of red chairs and wooden walls added an even stronger retro vibe to the Polaroid pictures.

A few plush props I brought also made appearances in the Polaroids (even if they didn't make it into the main camera shots, the Polaroids recorded them), maxing out the atmospheric feel when paired together. Of course, the Polaroid photos also captured funny moments between me and my working buddies, like off-guard shots with no attention to composition, which look super fun in hindsight. P5 is our goofy group photo, posted without fear of ruining our image—after all, having fun is what matters most.

Truly exhausted! Changing into three sets of clothes in a single day while keeping my state on point left my body's battery completely drained, but the joy in my heart was fully charged. Doing Marisa cosplay makes me so happy; the character herself carries that free-spirited and positive energy. Standing before the camera in this outfit made me feel as though I merged into the world of Touhou Project to experience a different lifestyle.

Complaints aside, I'm already calculating in my head whether to pull off another self-inflicted multi-outfit project next time (laughs). Although I say I'll never shoot three outfits at once again, I'll most likely end up buying fabric to modify myself whenever I see a nice new pattern design. The moment a main shoot wraps up, or when I receive the refined photos, all fatigue completely evaporates.

Today is purely a record of the shooting process and hard work, along with checking in on my closet lineup. I've already braved the Touhou Project shoot boot camp; all that's left is enjoying the fruits of labor.
