Taking on this fan-concept version of Marisa Kirisame from Touhou Project was quite a journey, and I have so much to share from preparation to the final shoot! The costume design is breathtakingly opulent—the moment I received it, I was utterly stunned by the oversized witch hat. The brim is lined with rich, cascading layers of lace, complemented by black lace accents on the underside; while it felt slightly hefty to wear, its dramatic presence on camera was undeniable. The top features a white ruffled blouse layered beneath a structured black corset. We cinched the laces quite snugly during shooting to sculpt a defined waistline, and seeing the finished shots made every bit of tightness worthwhile. The skirt is a dark overskirt adorned with subtle star motifs, worn over a voluminous white petticoat that swayed with lovely dimensional volume with every step.

For this shoot, I also customized the magic broomstick prop by hand. The original broom handle was fairly plain, so I wrapped it with black wire and embellished it with blue-and-white ribbons, jingle bells, and fairy lights, turning it into a truly enchanted artifact.

The location was a traditional garden featuring classical wooden architecture and lush greenery. The diffused daylight on an overcast day was wonderfully soft, perfectly evoking a dreamy, fairy-tale mood. My absolute favorites from the set are the mid-air jumping shots. Capturing that weightless illusion of flight meant leaping repeatedly: pointing my toes at the apex of each jump, bracing my core, and wielding the heavy broom—all while keeping an energetic, cheerful smile without letting physical strain distort my expression! In the end, the photographer caught several frames where the skirt flared into a perfect arc, injecting dynamic kinetic life into the images.

Even though this was a fan-interpretation outfit, I strove to preserve Marisa's adventurous, spirited personality through costume and prop details. The post-processing color grading leaned toward a luminous, vibrant style to harmonize with the garden's lush foliage. Every cosplay journey is a fresh adventure—the moment I slipped into this attire and picked up the broom, I genuinely felt ready to take off and patrol the Forest of Magic!
