The July archive has finally been sorted out. This set of Marisa Kirisame cosplay from Touhou Project was shot in a very dense forest. At that time, to create the Magician's mysterious aura, we specially chose the lighting of dusk or early morning.
In fact, the most demanding part of this shoot was the outfit, which was extremely tedious to put on and take off. The Lolita witch hat on top is huge, with complex lace all along the brim, requiring extra care when walking to avoid brushing against tree branches. The skirt is also made of layer upon layer; the outermost layer of black sequined tulle easily snags on thorns, so I was truly walking on eggshells during the shoot. The White stockings matched the corset nicely; although it was quite tight, going through some discomfort was well worth it to bring out a better vintage and magical temperament for the character.
Throughout the entire shoot, I had to manage both the kerosene lantern in my hand and the long magic broom. The lantern is a real vintage metal lamp, which made my arm really ache after holding it for a long time. The broom is also very long, and posing with that casual, effortless feel definitely required technique. Fortunately, photographer Tingfeng Shuoyun was very experienced in composition and lighting; after releasing smoke from the smoke machine in the forest, the beams of light casting down looked just like a magical barrier.
Because I personally love the character Marisa Kirisame very much, I really wanted to capture her confident and slightly mischievous vibe. During the shoot, I tried many poses, such as jumping on one leg, squatting on the stone path playing with the lantern, or simply standing straight letting the skirt spread out—paired with White stockings and long boots, the overall visual effect was quite good. Although I got bitten several times by mosquitoes and got some mud on the skirt, seeing the final photos made all the hard work feel worth it. This set of photos records a touch of summer magic.
