[Marisa Kirisame Cosplay] The Star-Spangled Tutu Dress, Short-haired Sha is Definitely Maxed Out on Cuteness

This time, I tried the short-haired look of Marisa Kirisame from Touhou Project, and the output of the entire outfit turned out much better than expected. Since Marisa's classic image in the original work is mostly long hair, the short-haired version puts more of a test on the wig's trimming and hair volume distribution. Customizing it with a local wig stylist indeed saved a lot of hassle; when I received it, the hair strands were trimmed very naturally, and the curve of the bangs fit my face shape perfectly. Putting it on didn't give off any rigid heaviness, and the frizziness of the wig was extremely well controlled, easily standing up to the camera's scrutiny during close-up shots.

The design of the costume is mainly focused on the hat and the skirt hem. As an iconic accessory, this huge hat is crafted with multiple layers of ruffles in its fabric, and the structural framing at the base supports a highly exaggerated stylistic feel. Paired with the golden star patterns printed all over, it is large in volume yet does not look cluttered. The layers of the skirt hem are very distinct, with an alternating off-white and black main color scheme. The dark green bow at the neckline serves as the only bright color accent on the body, avoiding the monotony of pure black and white. The corset and leather buckles at the waist are highly practical; they not only provide an obvious waist-slimming effect but also give the entire dress a touch of cool motorcycle punk vibe. Coordinated with a crossbody leather pouch, it looks more like a modified Lolita outfit coordination that can easily be worn for daily outings.

I did the makeup myself on the day of the shoot. Rather than choosing an overly heavy eye makeup or large areas of shading, I did my best to maintain a clean, fair, and translucent base makeup. Paired with bold black eyeliner and a brighter lip color, it stays close to the character's agility. For the choice of accessories, I used white mid-calf socks paired with black multi-strapped platform thick-soled shoes; this black-and-white color-blocking combination not only elongated the leg proportions but also formed a wonderful echo with the costume's colors. During the shooting process, I mainly relied on my phone and a dressing mirror to adjust the angles. The environment was just my daily computer desk and corkboard background, which actually made the atmosphere relatively relaxed and natural, free of that intentional solemnity of a photography studio. This created a very comfortable space for an Anime style selfie.

The ruffles and lace of this outfit are very meticulously distributed, especially the lace stitching on the cuffs and skirt hem edges, which is extremely comfortable to wear. Although there are many layers, physical movement is not restricted. When taking photos in front of the mirror, I specifically experimented with lifting my legs, making peace signs, and taking selfies with my phone. Due to the asymmetrical length design of the skirt hem at the front and back, slightly posing can showcase an excellent dynamic tension. Additionally, the greatest benefit of this short hair style is that it doesn't require much time for styling; you can simply pick it up, put it on, and step into character, which is highly suitable for a daily cosplayer like me who pursues efficiency but demands high quality.

Overall, this local wig stylist's customization and the styling coordination perfectly align with my understanding of the short-haired version of Marisa. The star elements are spread across the hat, top, and skirt hem, beautifully presenting the character's lively yet maidenly traits. The process of organizing the final photos went very smoothly. Even in a real-life setting with household items like computers, bookshelves, and storage cabinets, the stylistic tension of this costume is more than enough to firmly lock the visual center of gravity.
