The weather for this Guangzhou Touhou Only shoot was simply magnificent—sunlight filtering through tree leaves cast dappled patterns across the fabric, creating a texture of light and shadow tailor-made for this red-and-white character design.

The costume is packed with intricate details: just styling the massive oversized bow and bilateral hair ornaments with their multilayered lace and patterns took far more time than expected. The detached sleeves feature sheer ruffled chiffon that catches the breeze effortlessly when walking, making them ideal for dynamic frames. The skirt adopts an asymmetric silhouette—one side crafted from red calico floral fabric and the other a solid crimson maxi skirt cinched with a golden obi sash, both hemmed with cascading ruffled tiers.

To keep the skirt from appearing heavy or stagnant on camera, I wore strapped platform Mary Janes paired with white socks; this combination exposed more leg lines while complementing the flaring hems. Posing with the long staff prop demanded deliberate choreography: shifting the body's center of gravity allowed the skirt to swirl naturally with the wind, where more expansive, open postures translated into far punchier motion on camera.

For makeup, the palette was calibrated around the Red and white shrine maiden aesthetic, with focused definition around the eyes to capture her subtly enigmatic, spirited aura in the final selects.

The accompanying plush doll also featured the matching classic styling—purple hair paired with red attire made for an adorable prop, lending genuine interactive warmth when cradled in hand.

There is no denying that shooting voluminous skirts under natural outdoor light offers a huge advantage, as natural illumination purifies the contrast of the red-and-white tones. However, pacing around outdoors all day was physically taxing; the expansive hem required constant posture resets to prevent stepping on the delicate edges.

This was a solo set where makeup, styling, and poses leaned deliberately into authentic 2D anime aesthetics, while post-processing preserved crisp, high-contrast chiaroscuro to evoke that serene summer atmosphere.
