I finally managed to capture this outfit for Kiriko in Overwatch! In fact, the attire is brimming with intricate details—the cascading tiers of pink, blue, and purple petals across the skirt alone had to be secured by hand one by one, giving the garment noticeable weight when worn. For the wig, I deliberately chose a style with a purple-and-blue gradient. To harmonize with the dress's floral motifs and accessories, I paired it with matching colored contacts; my makeup emphasized sharp eyeliner and pink blush to channel that agile yet subtly mystical aura.
The light and shadow on the day of the shoot brought wonderful surprises. Standing before the vintage wooden doors in particular, sunlight streamed in from the side, casting dappled leaf shadows across the door and my silhouette. This natural, layered interplay of light and shadow accentuated the dimensional texture of the skirt's petals. To complement the outfit's softness, I prepared a patterned folding fan and a metallic short sword prop. The ethereal lightness of the folding fan contrasted against the sharp edge of the blade, which was precisely the dynamic tension I wanted to convey through my poses.
For the skirt-lifting pose, I repeatedly shifted my center of balance—aiming to let the hem blossom like flower petals while keeping an upright, elegant poise, all while coordinating high heels and lace leg Stockings accessories to showcase slender, elongated leg lines. During the outdoor garden shoot, the purple hydrangeas harmonized miraculously with the skirt's hues, making it feel as though 2D stepped directly into reality as a refined Purple style outfit.
In the grand indoor hall set, I also experimented with a floating jump pose, using props and post-processing visual effects to cultivate a hint of magical charm. Though the shoot demanded constant skirt adjustments and wig touch-ups, seeing every delicate nuance of the garments crisply captured made every moment worthwhile. Kiriko possesses an inherently lively and spirited charisma, so I wove diverse actions into the choreography—lifting the skirt, holding the fan, wielding the sword—enriching character expression from multiple dimensions. From garment pattern-making and accessory styling to synchronized lighting on set, every step required meticulous communication. It was far more than just a shoot; it was like recreating a unique romantic color palette. While purple is notoriously difficult to pull off, against the foundation of the white dress and pink blossoms, the overall harmony was captivating, leaving me with an even deeper affection for this Game cosplay styling.
