Cosplaying the Cinnamoroll's Dream skin for Yao from Honor of Kings this time was one of my most meticulously prepared photoshoots recently. The fusion of Cinnamoroll and Yao opened up immense room for visual creativity. To achieve a high level of restoration for this styling, I invested substantial effort into pre-production preparation, deliberating thoroughly from material selection to hands-on crafting.
First came the head styling. The blonde twin-tail wig needed to be both fluffy and richly layered. I spent an entire afternoon using a flat iron to gently coax the flow of the hair strands, locking them in place with styling spray to ensure they wouldn't collapse on camera due to movement. To align the facial features closer to a 2D aesthetic, I specifically selected bright blue contact lenses, paired with an expansive sweep of pink blush and under-eye highlighter accents, giving my gaze a clearer and more lively sparkle. Layering the upper and lower false eyelashes also underwent numerous adjustments to enlarge the eyes while keeping them natural rather than overdone, striving to maintain exquisite refinement even under tight close-up lenses.
The costume and props proved equally challenging. This light blue dress utilizes fabric with a pearlescent, iridescent laser sheen that reveals delicate shifts in luster under soft lighting. The white lace trim along the skirt hem and the plush pouch at the waist both incorporate Cinnamoroll elements, exuding a delightfully soft, adorable texture. The most eye-catching prop was unquestionably the pair of transparent glowing antlers atop my head flanked by white plush ears. The lighting for the antlers required verifying battery connections and wire routing in advance, concealing them neatly beneath the wig, while paying close attention to angles during the shoot to let the light shine through naturally. Because the headpiece had notable weight, wearing it for an extended duration relied heavily on neck strength to maintain balance, turning the shooting process into quite a physical workout. The blue magic wand held in hand, accented by a pink heart and dangling white cloud charms, further amplified the overarching dreamlike style.
To make the photo atmosphere feel even purer, the set was styled as a pristine white wonderland. A white wrought-iron bed frame, plush rugs, and floating white dove props formed a clean, immaculate backdrop. Lighting relied on high-key soft light, rendering skin tones with radiant translucence. During actual shooting, because a solid white background can easily flatten a frame, I introduced more interactive elements into pose design to enrich the scene's dimensions. For instance, a playful wink paired with a peace sign helped capture the most natural smile through interactive movement. Reaching a hand out toward the lens, synchronized with the prop doves taking flight, visually forged an immersive sensation of breaking through the fourth wall into the 2D realm. Overcoming the physical constraints of the bulky headpiece and garments to maintain graceful, open poses took some effort, but seeing the previewed frames in-camera made every bit of it feel thoroughly worthwhile.
This full cosplay is not merely about restoring external appearances, but about expressing Yao's unique aura under this specific skin. From meticulous makeup control to adjusting costume and prop fit, every single link demanded patience and care. I hope everyone can feel the soothing sweetness and healing magic brought by Cinnamoroll's Dream through this photo set.
