For this shoot of Shimoe Koharu's maid outfit from Blue Archive, the overall visual presentation centered around a classic palette of pink and white. The garment was crafted from glossy satin fabric, which reflects studio strobes beautifully. Because of this, we carefully adjusted the light positions during the shoot to highlight the texture and cascading tiers of the skirt.
The wig features classic light pink hair with blunt bangs. To recreate the character's anime feel, I styled it with extra volume and trimmed the side tendrils, pairing it with light-toned contacts and soft reddish blush to match her sweet persona. The black feather-shaped hair ornaments on both sides and the pink floating halo behind her head are the highlights of the look; putting them on instantly established the character's iconic silhouette. For the outfit, puff sleeves and a white ruffled apron enhance the maidenly charm. The pink bow on the chest is set with a heart-shaped rhinestone, complementing the three red hearts embroidered on the apron for high fidelity. The plush bunny charm at the waist and white safety undergarments are also part of the design. Though the little black wings on my back are small, they enrich the compositions wonderfully during side and back-angle shots.
Shooting this set required constant posture adjustments to show off the costume's design features; the last three shots were completed standing on a white cylindrical pedestal. Poses like standing on one leg with a slight body turn and the rear leg bent visually elongated my silhouette while lending a natural curve to the skirt. I experimented with holding a black round tray prop in front of my chest and by my side, as well as making heart signs with both hands to add a lively touch. The band-aid details on the thigh and knee were also preserved in front of the lens, adding a touch of casual, everyday flair to an otherwise delicate look.
We picked a clean, seamless white background for the studio to make the pink dress, black wings, and hair ornaments pop sharply without cluttering the frame. Throughout the session, I had to repeatedly smooth down the skirt and realign props because satin creases easily. Overall, this was a cosplay shoot deeply focused on fine details, striving to bring out the character's sheer cuteness and vibrancy through harmonious hair, makeup, and prop coordination.
