[Xiangling cosplay] Genshin Impact Wanmin Restaurant Chef Open for Business

What satisfies me most about this Xiangling outfit is actually its attention to detail. In particular, the choice of wig color—a dark tone with a subtle hint of blue-violet—aligns seamlessly with the original design without looking stiff or overly shiny. The contrasting color blocking between the collar and high-waisted cut, along with white woven lace edges and orange bow tassels, adds a lively touch to the ensemble. The cloud motifs on the gloves paired with red ties serve as a highlight. The cute animal pouch hanging at the waist is also filled with detail, acting as a perfect visual focal point in the photos. The overall outfit features a black, white, yellow, and orange color palette with strong contrast, yielding a high success rate for great photos.

Posing felt very comfortable. Since the character is naturally lively, poses didn't need to be overly rigid. So for this shoot, I chose a pose sitting on a long wooden bench with a slightly upward gaze. My left arm is raised high with an open palm, fully displaying the structure of the gloves and arm guards, while my right arm rests naturally to the side, making the character look relaxed and natural. Meanwhile, crossing my legs with pointed toes nicely highlights the high-top boots' unique design. The black-and-white color-blocked shaft, bright yellow toe box, and red laced knots give them strong recognizability on camera. Such dynamic movements didn't hinder wearing the costume at all; instead, they created natural fabric folds that added realism to the frame.

Regarding the shoot location for this costume, an outdoor park corridor was selected for outdoor photography. The rustic wooden bench and lush green foliage behind nicely complement the high-saturation yellow and orange color scheme of the outfit. The photographer used a wide aperture to blur the background softly, directing focus toward my outfit and facial expression. Lighting mainly relied on daytime natural diffuse light without harsh direct flash, keeping the skin tone looking clear and translucent. This soft light source gives the facial features a three-dimensional look, which, paired with the low-angle perspective, creates a slightly lazy ambiance while maintaining great camera engagement.

In fact, whenever wearing an outfit with a high collar and numerous accessories, hair and makeup prep poses the biggest challenge. Although the photos look effortless, styling the wig into double buns and securing them firmly was essential so they wouldn't shift when raising my arms. The small hair ornaments on my head and the bow at my neck also needed repeated checks for security to prevent them from falling off while walking or posing. Before heading out, I specifically re-adjusted the boot laces' tightness so that when pointing my toes for the camera, the boots would show their best shape without harsh crease folds along the shaft.

Our cooperation during the shoot was very seamless; thanks to meticulous advance preparation, there were virtually no wasted shots in the visual output. On site, the photographer fine-tuned my sitting position according to the direction of light, ensuring no harsh shadows fell on my face and environmental highlights didn't overexpose. When cosplaying an outgoing and lively character like this, expression management is crucial. I needed to rein in my habit of laughing out loud, opting instead for a slight smirk with focused eyes, striving to capture her confident yet playful demeanor. This set of photos attempts to soften the elaborate costume with a casual, everyday setting, making the outfit feel more grounded—a shooting concept I've particularly favored recently. The joy of outdoor cosplay lies in interpreting characters within real natural settings; this play of light and shadow, so different from studio shoots, brings out a much more vibrant side of the character. I personally love the ambient feel of this casual cosplay set. Wrapped up and finished smoothly!
