If fate was bound to bring us together, I want it to tie us even closer. This time, my partner and I completed a duo cosplay set of Minato Yukina and Imai Lisa from BanG Dream! Roselia. As soon as the photos were edited, I couldn't wait to organize and post them.
Capturing two characters in the same frame relies heavily on conveying their subtle unspoken chemistry. From hair and makeup to posing, we rehearsed endlessly. Finding the right shades for Yukina's pale lavender and Lisa's soft pink hair took time. We trimmed the straight bangs and side locks, shaping the volume with hairspray to mirror character designs, accented by the iconic black butterfly hairpin for an instant atmospheric boost. For makeup, a clean base paired with slender eyeliner and light contacts created a gentle yet subtly aloof gaze.
Selecting outfits involved thoughtful deliberation. Lisa's off-shoulder ribbed beige sweater, cinched with a slim black belt, paired with thigh-high socks and platform loafers to highlight her cheerful, vibrant aesthetic. Yukina wore a white ruffled blouse paired with a black skirt, dark tights, and heels. The black satin rose ornament on her wrist served as the ultimate touch, elevating her cool, refined elegance.
Shot indoors under soft light filtered through white lace curtains and crystal chandeliers, we utilized an asymmetrical full-length mirror. The mirror reflected both outfits—thigh-high socks against sheer black tights, platform loafers alongside Mary Janes—capturing complete outfit details without cropping, playfully accented with a cute chibi sticker on the side.
Mid-way through the shoot, we ordered drinks at a nearby cafe; topped with whipped cream and tiny cross decorations, they matched our set seamlessly. Holding these drinks alongside the black rose wristband added a sweet touch of Casual cosplay realism.
My favorite shot remains the close-up of our hands interlocking, transitioning into a gentle resting pose on knees, conveying intimacy without grand gestures. Cosplay isn't just about putting on similar clothes; it's a brief journey experiencing character bonds within a fleeting moment. Every time I put on a wig and makeup before the camera, my understanding of them deepens. Though exhausting from early morning styling to wrap-up, seeing these subtle moments captured makes every effort worthwhile.
