The most pleasant surprise of this shoot was undeniably the performance of the AD200 strobe. Outside, relentless rain had poured for days, leaving ambient lighting dreary and dim; yet inside the studio with our gear assembled, we relied entirely on this key light to forge the illusion of bright sunshine filtering through sheer drapes. I portrayed Chocola while Zumuzi cosplayed Vanilla—one in blue-and-white gingham and the other in pink-and-white gingham. Once we secured our cat ears and wigs, the entire character atmosphere clicked immediately.

Shooting a duo set is considerably more taxing than working solo, requiring continuous synergy between both models' expressions and physical poses. Photographer Mi Sanhua guided us on set, constantly offering pointers to refine the finer details. For instance, when seated on the sofa, stretching our leg lines forward maximized the visual appeal of the over-the-knee White stockings, elongating our overall proportions. We also experimented with seiza kneeling poses on the wooden floor, curling our hands into playful cat paws and arranging our tails to instantly capture that cheeky, lively spirit.

I was especially enamored with the intricate wardrobe details: tiered ruffles and delicate ribbon bows took effort to fasten properly, but seeing the final frames made every moment worthwhile. The juxtaposition of pink-and-white against blue-and-white softened beautifully against the warm yellow sofa backdrop; combined with white lace gloves and over-the-knee White stockings, the look radiated an alluring touch of charm without losing its wholesome sweetness. Before the camera, we traded glances and held hands with effortless rapport throughout the session.

To faithfully recreate the impression of natural window light, we repositioned the strobe and softbox angles repeatedly until the illumination passing through the white gauze curtains yielded a pristine, luminous translucency. Beyond our original shot list, we introduced additional setups across varied angles—including full-body frames and intimate half-body close-ups—to preserve every nuance of garment craftsmanship and duo interplay.

Encountering wet weather on a shoot day can test anyone's spirits, but controlled studio lighting is an absolute lifesaver; as long as the light source is dialed in, achieving the exact envisioned look is entirely within reach. From preliminary makeup tests to on-set synergy, bringing this duo Cat girl project to fruition demanded immense energy from everyone involved. I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Zumuzi—touching up each other's makeup, smoothing fabric folds, and sharing the grounded fulfillment of building a cohesive creative work together. We hope this photo series conveys all the vibrant energy we poured into it.
