From the moment I received this The Seer cosplay outfit of the Moon Phase Hua Modification, I had been pondering how to capture the solemn ambiance where statues and divinity intertwine. The original Moon Phase elements were adapted into more intricate gold-thread embroidery and sparkling sequins, and paired with the radial golden crown behind the head, it required meticulous securing during on-site prep. The shooting location was set before an arched backdrop flanked by genuine classical marble statues. During the shoot, we mainly relied on warm backlighting from behind and side fill-lights to create a halo effect, giving the veil a semi-translucent, hazy texture. A small fan was placed on the side to let the garments flutter naturally. Facial expression control was crucial during the shoot, as the veil and broad golden collar are very angle-sensitive. In post-processing, the color grading was adjusted to brighten and whiten the background, accentuating the gold texture to convey a tranquil sensation during prayer. Walking in this outfit creates a strong silhouette, especially with the knotted waist cord and the train of the tulle skirt. For fans who love Identity V, the visual impact brought by this Moon Phase Hua Modification is truly striking.
Posing in such a heavy costume was quite a test of physical endurance, but the cold rigidity of the statues nicely accentuated the character's divinity. Pre-production took considerable time, and thoughtful care went into communicating lighting and composition. Throughout the shoot, the photographer constantly guided my hand placements; fortunately, the final results turned out fantastic, perfectly documenting the embroidery on the costume and the intricate headpiece decorations. Shooting this in a church-style setting was exceptionally atmospheric, and with the cupped-hand gesture, it perfectly interpreted the "Praying for you" theme. The keeper rate for this set was very high with many favorite angles, and this is one of my favorite final shots. We discussed how to align light and shadow with the costume's temperament, and the current result matches expectations. Although wearing heavy-craft garments is exhausting, recreating the character's unique ritualistic presence made it entirely worthwhile. This look is dominated by gold and white, utilizing changing light and shadow to elevate overall texture. The entire work was shot with a DSLR, and post-production mainly consisted of color tuning to preserve rich detail and grain. For Moon Phase Hua Modification, capturing the metallic luster of the gold accents while retaining the gentle softness of the veil is paramount. To preserve the outfit's overall aesthetic, the makeup was kept clean to highlight the gaze. Standing amidst the statues in this attire under soft lighting truly felt like evoking the pious reverence of that scene. We continuously tested different half-body and full-body compositions, and for the selected shots, both postures and expressions are deeply satisfying. The intention behind this share is to record my interpretation of this character—such quiet poses are truly ideal for showcasing its detailed charm in a setting like this.
