[Umaru cosplay] Himouto! Umaru-chan's Weekend Otaku Girl's Daily Life

This set of Umaru cosplay works is finally here to meet everyone. The theme of the shooting day was to completely return to the lazy state of 'Himouto', so from the scene layout to the movement design, we tried our best to recreate that extremely relaxed at-home atmosphere.

When choosing the shooting location, we specially found this Japanese-style room (washitsu) with a strong retro Showa atmosphere. Old-fashioned wooden cabinets, a retro CRT TV, and the textured tatami mats laid on the floor—these elements well established the retro tone of the photos. To match this environment, the prop team prepared a large number of snacks: large bottles of cola, bags of potato chips, chocolate biscuit sticks, and bread scattered across the tatami. These scattered props were not just scene embellishments, but also the key to entering my character state. When I actually picked up that can of cola or tore open the potato chip packaging, that feeling of being carefree and spontaneous naturally arose.

In terms of character styling, besides the classic long blonde hair and bangs wig, this hooded orange animal cloak is the soul of the outfit. The surface of the cloak has a skin-friendly plush texture, and it feels very warm when worn on the head. The ear and eye print design on the hood also brings its own cute and comical effect. For the inner wear, I chose a simple pure white T-shirt and pink sports shorts. This comfortable home outfit allowed me to freely change postures on the tatami, whether lying face down or sitting up, without any sense of constraint.

During the shoot, we captured several very interesting moments from an otaku girl's daily life. For example, the funny action of lying on the ground biting snacks, and the perspective composition of holding a big cola bottle with one hand while passing a chocolate stick to the camera with the other hand, making it feel like sharing the same bag of snacks with friends watching the photos. What relaxed me the most was actually the shot of lying on the tatami, holding up my phone, and looking at the screen. That state could be said to seamlessly connect with my own daily life, and the photographer captured it very naturally. The lighting design of the entire set of photos is also praiseworthy. The warm orange oblique sidelight pouring down, combined with the wooden furniture in the room, gives the image a built-in filter effect, and the skin texture also reveals a warm glow.

This shoot was not just a simple cosplay; it was more like a process of relaxing the body and mind. In between busy Guangzhou model work, being able to put on Umaru's clothes and lie down without any worries in such a quiet room full of life is truly an enjoyment. I hope this set of photos can convey this coziness and happiness belonging to weekend solitude.
