[Takanashi Rikka cosplay] Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, concluding a lover's contract by the sea

The shooting for this Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions project was chosen to be by the beach. The sunshine and sea breeze brought an unexpected vibrancy to the entire project. To recreate the classic interaction between Takanashi Rikka and Yuuta Togashi, we spent most of the day tossing around on the beach. Although it was hard work, seeing the final photos made it all feel worth it.

Regarding Rikka's styling, this time we didn't completely copy the heavy school uniform from the anime, but instead created a custom design cosplay for a summer beach. The white ruffled short-sleeve top paired with a black tie featuring a cat paw pattern preserves the core recognition of the character without causing the coser to suffer from heatstroke in high temperatures. That iconic ahoge on top of the head was definitely the biggest challenge; it easily collapsed whenever the sea wind blew. The stylist used strong-hold styling hairspray, combined with a fine-toothed comb for repeated backcombing, to make it stand firmly there. The wig was chosen in a natural-leaning flaxen color, trimmed to have a layered feel. The yellow bow hair ornament on the right and the thin chain on the wrist added a touch of refinement to the overall styling.

In terms of makeup, to withstand the strong light by the beach, a long-wear foundation was used for the base, focusing on the shaping of nose contour and facial structure. The eye makeup used pink eyeshadow blended on the upper and lower eyelids, paired with green contact lenses, striving to present Rikka's quirky yet somewhat Chunibyo-attributed gaze in front of the lens. Additionally, because I had to open my eyes under direct sunlight, I carried a mini fan and eye drops with me, quickly cooling down my eyes during shooting breaks.

The most difficult part during the shooting was action restoration and expression management. In the upper part of the photos, we recreated the actions of blocking the face and extending the palm. This required the arms to have good stability while maintaining body balance under strong wind. The peace sign gesture in the lower part, accompanied by the line "Conclude the Wicked Eye lover's contract with me—a superior contract," required 120% conviction in front of the lens. The partner responsible for Yuuta Togashi on the opposite side had an extremely high level of cooperation; we constantly adjusted our standing positions, trying to present a dynamic, palpable sense of contract in the frame.

From setting up the scene and props to adjusting light and shadow on site, every single step required concentration. The theme of Chunibyo may seem comical on the surface, but its core is actually the cherishing of youth and pure emotions. I hope that through this set of beach photography cosplay, everyone can feel that unique yet serious emotional expression.
