This set of photos was completed on the steps of the Putian Lianchuang Overpass. The clouds and lighting that day were quite suitable for this cool-toned ACG outdoor location. To recreate Takanashi Rikka's tsundere yet naturally chunibyo aura, we intentionally chose this stair background with a sense of perspective for a low-angle shot. Paired with her iconic large black umbrella with a pink trim, the visual tension was pushed to the max.
Before stepping in front of the lens, we made a lot of preparations for the details. Core props like the eyepatch and wig had to be fixed securely to prevent any loosening or wardrobe malfunctions during the shoot. This dark blue shawl paired with a light purple skirt hem is highly recognizable. Combined with black over-knee socks and platform leather shoes, the silhouette beautifully accentuates Rikka's light, airy, yet stubborn girlish feel. It was a bit windy on the day of the shoot, so holding the umbrella was actually quite a workout. I had to constantly pay attention to the direction of the umbrella surface; if the wind direction was wrong, the frame could easily be filled with umbrella ribs or the canopy could get blown inside out.
Additionally, capturing the character's state through a low-angle perspective was a test of teamwork. It required maintaining the cool and aloof stance of the Tyrant's Eye while showcasing the character's agility in a natural posture. I'm quite satisfied with the overall outcome of the photoshoot. With the contrast between light and shadow maximized, the black, white, and purple color scheme looks exceptionally refreshing against the blue sky backdrop. This kind of outdoor shooting, full of street vibes colliding with elements from Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, heavily tests one's control over costume details, light, and shadow. I hope this serves as a good reference for friends who love Cosplay photography in outdoor settings.
