[Sangonomiya Kokomi cosplay] Swimsuit Teaser Vol. 6: Dreamy Underwater Atmosphere

This sixth teaser photoshoot features Kokomi's Swimsuit, and I'm really glad we were able to advance this theme within such a short timeframe.

The overarching tone of this entire set is an ethereal, cool underwater atmosphere. When I first received this Kigurumi outfit, my main concern was whether the plush or specialized fabrics might hinder the presentation of body lines and movements, but after putting it on, I found the overall tailoring and material fidelity to be spot on. In particular, the ribbon embellishments at the waist and arms have an excellent drape, and together with the subtle accents on the hem and chest, they look wonderfully soft in front of the lens.

For the set, a massive white seashell was arranged as the main reclining bed. When the lights hit the shell's edges, it cast a remarkably translucent texture, and lying inside truly gave an immersive feeling of being embraced by the sea. The luminous orb held in my hands was the core prop of this shoot; it served not only as a fill light and thematic focal point but also anchored the visual center amidst the dark blue-toned background.

Photographer @阿巴阿巴阿巴啊 demonstrated remarkably precise control over light and shadow, particularly in handling the White stockings and surrounding blue-violet ambient lighting without any color muddiness. Since we used soft lighting simulating the refraction of seawater during the shoot, poorly controlled metering could easily blow out the whites; however, in the final photos, the translucency of the White stockings was preserved, while surrounding crystal pillars and floating blue fish props retained distinct depth, giving the image a strong sense of unity.

Regarding the giant scallop shell, I was initially worried it might get overexposed, but the photographer skillfully used a slightly upper-side light source paired with bottom bounce light, keeping the shell's texture crisp and clear. Moreover, thanks to the thickness of the shell rim, leaning against it allowed me to stretch out naturally, nicely elongating the leg lines when crossing my legs.

My styling included a dark blue ribbon bow, which created a pleasing contrast with the light purple inner top, while the soft pink hair color blended seamlessly into the blue-toned environment rather than clashing, conveying a gentle and warm feel.

There were a few small hiccups during the shoot, such as fixing the floating fish props multiple times to capture that weightless underwater feeling, which required constant repositioning. In the end, the resulting visual perfectly captured that dreamy weightless atmosphere. For photos dominated by vast white and blue-violet tones, beyond minor adjustments to color temperature and contrast in post-production, little extra retouching was needed—the lighting in the raw shots was already exceptional.

Posing while reclining on specialized props is quite a test of stamina and core strength, as you must keep the body relaxed and stretched while angling both face and chest toward the lens. Fortunately, smooth communication with the photographer beforehand allowed many poses to be nailed in a single take, saving a lot of time.

Although this is currently released as a teaser, I am very confident in the quality of the final full set. Photos shot in this set carry an intense sense of immersion, as if truly submerged in a tranquil shallow sea. While previous volumes explored different styles, this Kokomi Swimsuit set is undoubtedly a refreshingly cool and dreamy highlight for the summer theme. From costume details and prop coordination to venue construction, this shoot was a collaboration well worth documenting.

We originally planned to shoot some dynamic splashes of water, but considering the specialized material of Kigurumi and the complexity of lighting, we focused primarily on still-life composition and ambient mood. In the future, if given the opportunity, perhaps we can experiment with different fabric variants using similar elements to explore an alternative visual experience.
