[Asuna Cosplay] Healing Interaction with a Golden Retriever at the Convention

This set of Convention photos brings a very special shooting experience, where my main partner wasn't a dedicated photographer, but an extremely gentle Golden Retriever. When I first saw it near the exhibition area, I thought it was so cute and tentatively asked its owner if we could take a few photos together. I didn't expect the dog to be so friendly, which resulted in these natural interaction photos.

When preparing this outfit, the focus was actually on the headpiece and the overall school-style design. The white short-sleeved shirt paired with a light blue bowtie, a navy blue pleated skirt on the bottom, plus black long socks and loafers made the overall color palette very refreshing and perfect for the summer convention atmosphere. The blue concentric halo headpiece with two light blue hanging ribbons, along with a black choker as an accent, made the entire look recognizable without feeling overly heavy. For the wig, I chose light golden long hair styled straight; although it was quite long and felt a bit heavy while walking around the venue, it looked natural on camera.

Shooting with pets is toughest when trying to capture the dog's state. In the first few photos, we were both squatting on the grey floor tiles; the dog obediently stuck close to my side and cooperated by looking at the lens. However, since the dog wasn't trained in specific poses, many shots caught it sticking its tongue out and looking around with a delightfully goofy expression. Still, during the shoot, it was very well-behaved and didn't run around, which saved us a lot of trouble with focusing and composition.

The biggest surprise came with the fourth photo, when it suddenly seemed to get excited and proactively raised its front paw to rest on my palm. I naturally held its paw, creating a handshake gesture. At that moment, people around us cast curious glances, making the scene feel incredibly warm and healing. These genuine moments are far more vivid than staged poses, giving these Convention photos a deeper sense of storytelling. A khaki and green woven leash was used during the shoot, and the dog wore a black V-shaped neckerchief with a small red accent around its neck, which blended harmoniously with my black, white, and blue outfit.

Although it was outdoor natural light, the light grey floor tiles reflected light well, brightening up facial details nicely. As for the costume, this school-style JK uniform easily resonates at conventions, and the tied bowtie along with the skirt length felt fresh and natural in the convention setting. To match the dog's height while shooting, I had to stay in a half-squat position; although my legs grew sore after a while, seeing the interactive results in the photos made all the effort worthwhile. In particular, the Golden Retriever's fur shimmered with a golden glow under the sunlight, creating a harmonious visual contrast with my cool-toned outfit.

The convention venue was bustling with crowds, and occasionally there were barks from other pets, but the Golden Retriever remained sweet and calm, providing great conditions for the shoot. The pink backdrop wall and white cloud decorations at the convention also added lively elements to the photos. Overall, these photos record a brief yet fun collaboration between me and this special partner at the convention. Sharing these Convention photos, being able to take photos on-site with such a cute and gentle animal is truly a joyful and unique memory. It feels much more interactive than plain standing poses and captures the real, authentic vibe of the event.
