This shoot for Qingxiao's Qipao styling took place at Dorothy Studio. The space is vast with brand-new set installations, making it wonderfully suited for our concept requiring abundant traditional antique aesthetics. Collaborating with teacher Xingxingzi was incredible—she felt remarkably attuned to Qingxiao's presence.

From the moment I received the design concept for Qingxiao's Qipao from Wuthering Waves, I pondered how to reproduce that in-game tactile texture in reality. The garment is grounded in pure white, dyed with blue ink-wash floral and butterfly motifs, and tailored with a halter-neck cutout collar accented by metallic pendants and flowing tassels. To capture the character's cool detachment, I chose an ice-blue wig, crafting the fin-shaped headpiece and ribbons out of translucent materials. For the shoot, I paired the outfit with White stockings over-the-knee socks and garter straps, alongside transparent high-heeled sandals to visually elongate lower-body proportions.

For props, we brought a traditional round fan, a bamboo flute, and a long sword. Wielding the sword required expansive yet controlled postures; pointing the blade forward meant minding the angle of the wrist to avoid appearing stiff. Holding the fan focused more on showcasing gentle elegance, requiring a softened gaze.

Teacher Xingxingzi's command over lighting and composition was exceptionally professional. The gear used was a Fujifilm X-H2 paired with an XF 16-55mm lens. Fuji's color science is notoriously pleasing with blue palettes; coupled with the interplay of warm and cool illumination on set, the atmosphere in the raw unedited files was already dialed in.

The entire shoot flowed smoothly, as the expansive studio provided ample room for intricate lighting arrangements. To align with the classical atmosphere, I deepened the reddish blend around the eyes, establishing a delicate warm-and-cool contrast with the blue contacts. With every pose transition, we checked the display angles of the skirt hem and stockings, aiming to deliver frames that both honored the character's lore and remained visually captivating.

Wrapping this set was thoroughly thrilling. Qingxiao's charm revealed a distinctive allure once dressed in this Qipao, and the harmony between Chinese ink wash and ice blue gave me a fresh understanding of cosplay. I look forward to experimenting with even more diverse styling themes next time.
