This photoshoot is dedicated to Seele Vollerei cosplay, a character from Honkai Impact 3rd. The overall costume features a blue-and-purple pleated skirt set, with a high-collared white inner shirt under a sleeveless vest. The vest has a crisp, structured tailoring, and the front silver buttons reflect prominently under the lights. The skirt is spliced in blue, purple, and black, presenting rich layering when walking; although the fabric is somewhat stiff, it holds the skirt's silhouette perfectly. The over-the-knee White stockings on my legs have a snug fit, which, paired with black chunky-heeled leather shoes, visually elongates the calf lines. When preparing this ensemble, the stockings required extra care to keep them wrinkle-free, and the shoelaces needed to be tied tightly to avoid slipping during poses.
The wig is deep blue with highlighted streaks on both sides of the bangs, complemented by a blue bow on top of the head. To capture the character's gaze, I chose bright blue contact lenses that appeared crystal clear under the bright nighttime lights. The prop is a giant Sickle with a very long wooden pole and a broad blade, which felt quite heavy in hand. Holding it steady during the shoot took considerable effort, but luckily photographer Mao Mao guided me on-site to find my center of gravity and adjust the grip angle so the Sickle rested naturally against the ground.
The shooting location was an outdoor hallway at night, backed by glass railings and architectural lighting. Opening up the aperture turned the background streetlights into beautiful bokeh circles. It was quite windy that day, constantly blowing the hair and skirt around, requiring frequent pauses to tidy up. While the seated pose on the ground looks relaxed, maintaining body curves actually required extending my legs as straight as possible, leaning the upper torso slightly back, and bracing firmly against the floor with the other hand to ensure balanced composition. The entire process—including repeated light testing, pose adjustments, and wiping dust off props—took a long time. Though exhausting, seeing the results captured on camera made all the effort worthwhile. Both the angle of the Sickle's blade against the ground and the spread of the skirt were meticulously refined.
For fans of this character, doing one's best to recreate her signature elements is inherently rewarding. Nighttime lighting creates a vastly different texture compared to daytime sunlight, and combining artificial lights with blurred background bokeh suits the character's mysterious aura better. Regarding costume details, I repeatedly checked the necktie, vest buttons, and skirt zipper before shooting to avoid any wardrobe flaws on camera. As for the shoes, accommodating shifts in center of gravity, the black leather shoes reflected the lights beautifully, creating a sharp contrast with the White stockings on my legs. This all-around Anime cosplay presentation was dedicated to pursuing superior visual aesthetics and character accuracy.
