This set of Journalist cosplay photos at Xichong Beach has finally been released. The shoot took place on August 16th, which happened to coincide with a coastal gathering for our team—an Anime team building event—so I teamed up with photographer Longxiang nightfall to capture this photoshoot set.

Being a seaside setting, the weather rested right on the threshold between overcast and sunny. The lighting was delightfully soft without harsh direct glare, making it ideal for capturing a clear, luminous texture for a Summer Film. When shooting Photo 1, the tide was just receding, and the wet sand formed a flawless mirror reflection. Where the sea met the sky felt extraordinarily vast; standing in the shallow water and turning back toward the lens, my reflection stretched long beneath my feet, with a cool, expansive stillness that matched the character's tone perfectly.

Photos 2 and 3 were framed to highlight closer details. Sitting on the beach, the golden braided hair and the sunglasses resting atop my head were key focal points of this styling. A sheer white long-sleeved top paired with a blue-and-white plaid pleated skirt, delicate lace accents at the neck, and a crossbody vintage camera bag preserved the character's period aesthetic while adding refreshing summer crispness. Sitting in the sand as gentle waves lapped over my calves was wonderfully refreshing, capturing the pure joy of shooting barefoot.

We faced quite a few challenges during this shoot. Coastal winds were fairly strong; keeping the wig and head accessories neat—especially maintaining the directional flow of the braids—demanded constant care. Although the camera bag prop looks compact, wearing it required mindful angling to avoid looking bulky on camera. Thanks to the photographer's meticulous guidance, the diffused overcast light sculpted the layered textures of the outfit beautifully. The color grading leans toward a clean, cool palette, echoing the blue-and-white attire and distant islands seamlessly.

Given that the day was an Anime team building outing, the beach was fairly bustling. Dodging passersby in the background took plenty of effort in scouting angles; for instance, in the final photo, a low-angle level shot combined with a wide aperture's shallow depth of field kept the waves, sand, and distant mountain backdrop clean and pure. This time, I experimented with a more realistic, soft-vintage photographic approach, hoping to faithfully convey the Journalist's seaside summer atmosphere through natural expressions and gestures.
