[Springfield cosplay] Girls' Frontline 2: Exilium Springfield's Summer Mermaid Vacation Style

The main goal of this shoot was to capture an effortless, languid summer vacation feel. Centered on the theme of an 'awakened mermaid,' the overarching tone leaned toward pure relaxation and ease. I chose a white straw hat trimmed with a dark navy ribbon, which not only shielded the sun but also harmonized beautifully with the bikini's color scheme. The white shirt served as a fantastic styling piece: unbuttoned and tied at the waist, it struck the perfect balance without feeling overly revealing while adding visual depth. Beneath it, I paired a lake-blue sheer skirt that fluttered with every step, blending seamlessly with the ripples of the pool. For makeup, I wore green contact lenses paired with citrus-orange lip tones; to accentuate the mermaid aesthetic, I selected a vibrant, saturated bright orange wig, leaving face-framing strands across my forehead and styling subtle braids along the side for delicate detail.

The sunlight on shoot day was generous, yielding gorgeous interplay between light and shadow. While standing in the pool, I had to contend with the water's buoyancy while keeping my facial expressions composed, as the strong glare off the water easily caused squinting. To convey effortless authenticity in the water, I constantly adjusted my center of gravity so the water level brushed just above my waist, allowing the skirt to flare out gracefully across the surface. Securing the straw hat was another test on set—ensuring it wouldn't topple into the water when tilting or turning my head, while still revealing just enough of my shoulders and collarbone to highlight the layers between the white shirt and Swimsuit. Water-based shoots are deceptively demanding on stamina; keeping your balance while looking completely at ease is tough, and the slightest lapse can make expressions stiff, requiring continuous dialogue with the photographer to recalibrate angles on the fly.

The shots reclining on the lounge chair with a book and glass later on were my personal favorites: the light fell across me just right, requiring no forced posturing—simply pure, organic comfort. The glass and novel functioned as storytelling props, looking like leisure items casually picked up during a holiday. Lounging on the chair, I was mindful of the crossing angle of my legs, utilizing the drape of the skirt to flatter my leg lines, accented by sunglasses to lock in the atmosphere. Capturing side-backlit angles etched a delicate contour around my silhouette, making the hair strands gleam and lending a rich, tactile dimension to the frame.

The nuanced charm of this outfit lies in its contrasting color palette. The crisp white shirt and hat easily blew out under harsh sunlight, so dialed-in exposure compensation was essential during shooting to preserve the fabric's delicate weave. The blue-toned bikini and sheer skirt not only mirrored the pool's palette but also injected a splash of refreshing cool. The floral embellishment on the sandals mirrored the floral accent on the straw hat—a deliberate styling touch that tied the entire ensemble together.

The entire process was quite a workout, constantly tweaking stances to match the photographer's compositions. We explored various angles: Figure 1 used a slight overhead angle to emphasize spirited liveliness, while Figures 3 and 4 were shot at eye level to showcase garment textures and the overarching ambiance. This Summer Film experience deepened my understanding of how natural light, props, and garments interact to build character personality—moving beyond rigid posing to embody how she would truly inhabit this space, freshly awoken from a nap with a touch of sweet languor.
