[Cyrene Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: An Overweight Challenge Interwoven with Heavy Rain and Sunlight

Today's outdoor photography session can be fully described as bittersweet, but to be precise, I only managed to endure this heavy burden thanks to the full support of my friends. When I first looked at the concept art, I only thought this look was ethereal and dreamy, but once I got the actual costume, I realized that the visual lightness of the design and the actual weight when wearing it were two completely different things—this is probably the most real physical gulf between 2D and 3D.

First, let's talk about how extreme this gear is. Although the main body of the dress consists of white and silver-gray embossed fabrics, to support that ethereal, otherworldly texture, layers of tulle, organza, a huge gradient train, plus the large curved branch headpiece on top and giant wing hair ornaments on the sides took a toll on my energy just putting them on properly. The large wig, elf ears, and amethyst-like eye makeup with contact lenses left no room for slacking on any detail. The most overwhelming part was the extremely long gradient tulle train: it was not only heavy but also super difficult to manage, dragging, knotting, or snagging on the ground after just a few steps. I couldn't organize the complex skirt alone at all; every sitting down or standing up was a massive physical challenge.

I really need to give special thanks to my gorgeous friend Tonghua today for acting as my logistics assistant. Without her helping to hold the skirt train, adjust headpieces, and put on those complex shoulder and sleeve accessories, I probably would have collapsed completely right in the dressing room. The whole gear was insanely heavy; right after finishing changing, I felt my stamina halved immediately—that's truly no exaggeration.

In addition, today's weather conditions were exceptionally dramatic. When I started doing makeup early in the morning, heavy rain was pouring outside, and I even thought for a moment that today's outdoor session was going to be completely ruined. Fortunately, the members of our shooting crew were very optimistic, and we braved the rain to get to the location anyway. Perhaps favored by heaven, around noon the sky suddenly cleared up, and the sun burst through all at once. The post-rain sunlight spilled over the white stone pillars and lawn of the plaza, making the entire scene look extra crisp and bright. We seized this precious sunny window to rush the shooting; though the ground was still a bit slippery, the overall outcome went much smoother than expected. Just after we wrapped up the main shots, the weather turned again as dark clouds reassembled quickly. Although we braved both rain and scorching sun throughout the day, successfully finishing the shoot left us feeling incredibly exhilarated.

Speaking of the last two photos, those were behind-the-scenes candid shots Tonghua took for me while I was resting, which I personally love a lot. The full-body standing pose set against the white stone pillars showcases the natural drape and extra-long gradient texture of the skirt train, while the lying-down shot feels more like a moment of rest after completing a mission. Although the petals on the ground and the dress train overlapped somewhat casually, that sense of relaxed ease mixed with romantic messy fatigue perfectly resonated with our unique shooting experience today.

To be honest, attempting a cosplay with such oversized gear is truly a dual test of physical stamina and willpower. Whether moving props, putting on or taking off the costume, or adapting to sudden weather changes, every step requires high-level teamwork. That feeling of trudging weary steps outdoors in heavy garments is really hard to describe fully in words. Luckily, I had Beixing, Tonghua, and all the companions who worked alongside me through heavy rain and blazing sun. Because of everyone's company, this heavy story was finally able to reach a smooth conclusion. Although physically exhausted, seeing those captured moments frozen on screen makes every bit of effort feel worthwhile.
