[Cyrene Cosplay] Mature Fan-Design Makeup: Spring Star Rail Style Shoot

This post shares a headcanon photoshoot look for the character Cyrene from Honkai: Star Rail.

For this shoot, I tried out a mature-style makeup approach, where my biggest focus during preparation was adjusting mid-face blank space and facial feature proportions. In traditional moe-style anime makeup, the visual center often sits too low, making the overall vibe lean overly youthful. This time, I deliberately extended the mid-face area slightly and adjusted the color blending range of the eye makeup, giving the upper face a more relaxed visual focus. As mentioned in the post, this technique helped settle the overall vibe into something calm, breaking away from overly sweet childlikeness and capturing that blend of cool elegance and lively charm intended for this headcanon concept.

The wig styling was another major highlight of this shoot. I chose a gradient blending light pink and ice blue. For the updo, I used an asymmetrical braid design with voluminous yet textured buns on both sides. Instead of traditional complicated headpieces, I placed a white and green daisy wreath on top to echo the lightness of the outfit and blend better with the natural outdoor surroundings. Exquisite hair styling is key to supporting the overall grandeur of the dress.

For the outfit, I picked the classic \"Chun-Li\" wide-skirted dress from \"BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT.\" The colorway features a soft gradient of light blue and white, accented with soft pink bow ties for gentle color layering. Crafted from lightweight tulle and lace paneling, the white outer mesh skirt hangs with fantastic drape. The wide bell-sleeve design in particular looks incredibly gentle and ethereal when swaying in the outdoor breeze. Tiny gold vine embroidery accents the garment, adding delicate metallic details that prevent the light colors from looking plain.

The shoot took place in a cherry blossom outdoor scene, where trees in full bloom paired perfectly with the light-colored dress. The photographer used a large aperture for a shallow depth of field, blurring the background pink floral sea and branches while retaining ample ambient light. This natural illumination created a translucent glow on the subject without needing heavy fill light. For the elf ear style props, I specifically chose a larger pair with an exaggerated curve; smaller ears would easily look lost amidst the elaborate hair and wide sleeves, whereas larger contours balanced the head silhouette and enhanced the fantasy theme.

We faced minor hiccups during the shoot, such as outdoor breezes blowing my straight bangs out of place. Once straight bangs lose their initial curve, restoring them outdoors can be tricky. Yet these natural imperfections gave the photos more vitality. The fabric layering showed up beautifully under natural light, where the translucent texture of the tulle shone through effortlesly without forced lighting. Trying out mature makeup was a fresh experience for me—I used to worry changing styles might lose a character's core traits, but in this headcanon context, I felt this makeup style aligned wonderfully with my imagination of her other side.
