I wrapped up this Hoshimi Miyabi cosplay set in a heavy industrial studio backdrop today, and while the retouched photos are fresh, I'd like to share the details behind this shoot. Since the overall character tone leans toward cold detachment and crisp efficiency, we didn't pick an overly fancy studio, opting instead for a space stacked with speakers, flight cases, and vintage CRT televisions. I wanted to see what kind of spark would fly when cool-toned lighting collides with these wasteland-meets-electronic aesthetic elements.

First, about wearing this costume: the inner layer consists of a basic white shirt and black tie, while the outer teal-blue and yellow spliced haori jacket complements the skintone nicely while concealing tactical belts at the waist to avoid a bulky look. For the lower half, a black pleated skirt was paired with a black tights outfit and platform block-heeled boots. These boots are a lifesaver for mobility; standing all day during the shoot didn't strain my ankles, and the block heel matches the overall tactical mecha-girl aesthetic perfectly. The plush animal-ear headband serves as the finishing touch; to blend naturally with black hair, the base of the ear ornaments was styled with a smooth black-to-white gradient so the edges don't look artificial even under intense lights.

As for weapons, the custom long sword prop featuring multiple straps, metal buckles, and black-and-white paintwork faithfully reproduced the set texture with substantial weight. Holding it offered a unique sense of balance, with ideal center-of-gravity placement when executing slashing and defensive poses. We experimented with various camera setups on site, including low-angle shots leaning on a high platform, as well as high-angle shots incorporating standing postures and fog effects. Features like cool white smoke billowing from behind, complemented by high-brightness orange screens and a ring of icy blue light beneath the speakers, created a cold-warm contrast that instantly maxed out combat immersion.

Truthfully, executing an action-oriented cosplay shoot like this places the greatest test on facial expression control, requiring simultaneous balance between the tension of drawing a sword, sharp gaze intensity, and core stability adjustments. To capture ideal expressions, the photographer spent considerable time fine-tuning light positions, seamlessly blending blue rim light with flat facial illumination. With warm ambient light cast from the screens on one side, the cool-toned key light hitting the body created an exceptionally crisp look—the true secret to atmospheric visual depth.

The underlying color scheme of this photo set centers on black, blue, yellow, and white. Although rich in color, the large dominance of cool tones prevents the overall visual from looking cluttered, instead conveying a cyberpunk-meets-neo-industrial texture. This established a strong foundation for the shoot, requiring minimal post-production cropping to achieve the desired effect. While hardcore studio shoots are physically demanding, the resulting texture far surpasses ordinary studio setups, accurately conveying the character's crisp efficiency and heroic poise. Today's shooting process went smoothly, and the outfit performed flawlessly.
