A convention photo obtained at the cost of falling flat on my buttโthinking about it now, it's still both painful and hilarious. At that time, to capture the tension of a mid-air slash, I directly climbed up the venue's metal ladder, thinking that leaping from a high place would create a more natural sense of suspension. In the end, my foot slipped, and I crashed solidly onto the ground along with my sword prop. My butt hit the ground first, and it hurt so much that I was completely dazed on the spot for a few seconds. Fortunately, because I had put on protective gear in advance and there was a mat on the ground, I didn't get hurt. It's just that the posture was truly clumsy and witnessed the entire time by nearby fellow fans. Everyone laughed, but they still rushed over to help me up immediately.
But I have to say, Mr. Lichen is truly a god. While I was lying on the ground catching my breath, that ruined shot taken by him was actually saved in post-processing. Look at these two convention photos; they process the sharp sensation of battle and the movement lines of the wind extremely cleanly. Especially the first one: the reflection on the blade, the fluttering hair strands, and that cold gaze completely covered up the embarrassment of my recent fall. The weapons and props in Zenless Zone Zero are made quite heavy, and swinging them single-handedly is quite a test of wrist strength. Combined with the layers of this uniform and coat, moving around is actually much hotter than imagined. To restore Hoshimi Miyabi's 2D design, the wig also underwent a lot of processing, with the positions of the bangs and rabbit ears repeatedly adjusted many times.
This experience made me deeply realize that when shooting a convention photo, safety always comes first. For elevated platforms like a ladder, even if it's just one meter high, falling due to an unstable center of gravity can easily cause a sprain. I was lucky this time. Next time I shoot high-difficulty moves, I will definitely step firmly before posing. But being able to leave behind such a handsome photo, this fall was well worth it. From the shirt and tie to the belt buckle, and that arm band with the emblem, every detail of this costume was polished bit by bit by me and the team, giving a true sense of immersion when putting it on for this cosplay project. Mr. Lichen's photography and post-processing definitely added points, completely capturing that quiet yet dangerous aura. Although the process was full of twists and turns, the moment I saw the final photos, all the hard work vanished into thin air.
