Trying on this Ryuge Kisaki outfit was more challenging than expected, especially during this internal cosplay fitting where every single detail was worth scrutinizing.
For the wig, the rounded twin buns with bows on top required sturdy support to avoid tilting. Balancing the buns while ensuring the long side bangs curved snugly along the cheeks helped flatter the face contour while creating that distinct, nonchalant, languid vibe unique to the character. The striped outerwear features an oversized drop-shoulder cut with a natural drape when walking; however, the sleeves are quite long, so without properly arranging the cuffs, hand gestures can look cumbersome. Nevertheless, this loose silhouette significantly enhances the overall aura, making the figure look even more slender.
The inner sleeveless black cheongsam is the core of this Chinese cheongsam cosplay, featuring exquisite golden dragon embroidery on the chest that stands out richly against the dark fabric. The halter-neck cut demands clean shoulder and neck lines; to convey that poised composure in the photos, one needs to slightly drop the shoulders and straighten the back while standing to define the collarbones and shoulders. The posture in Photo 2, resting one foot on a round stool, effectively elongates the visual length of the legs, and paired with fine stockings cosplay, it renders the leg lines beautifully in front of the lens.
Even though my face was masked with chibi stickers and emojis in the photos, I was actively searching for the core of the character's demeanor during the fitting. Kisaki's aloof yet tsundere nature and her formal, regal way of speaking require restrained body language. For instance, keeping hands steady when standing and slightly tilting the chin up when resting the cheek on the hand help align with her personality. Since I hadn't put on the matching shoes yet, I completed this fitting test barefoot on the stool, but the overall silhouette and color palette already show promising initial results.
These fitting photos were taken under indoor lighting against a wood-grain backdrop. This warm-toned setting complements the black-and-gold color scheme without feeling dull. While adjusting the costume, I noticed that the vertical stripes and gold thread embroidery on the outerwear exhibit subtle luster variations under the light, which is a great advantage of this fabric. For designs blending rich classical aesthetics with modern tailoring, casual cosplay fitting helps in mastering comfortable posing angles and postures.
Trying on this entire set served as a thorough preparation for the upcoming official shoot. Although styling the wig and adjusting the drape of the coat took some effort, seeing the character design materialize in reality is where the true joy of cosplay lies.
