[Ram & Rem Cosplay] Convention Diary of Pure White Twin Angels

For this shoot at Zhongshan as29, coco and I decided to take on the Angel concepts for Ram and Rem. I am Xiaolin, cosplaying Ram, while coco portrayed Rem. Once we settled on these outfits, our preparatory focus shifted entirely to the feathered props and halo accessories. The halos above our heads look weightless, but inside lies a wire frame wrapped in white satin ribbon. To make sure the halos wouldn't slip off or tangle in the wigs during the shoot, we tested seven or eight kinds of clips before departure, ultimately settling on ultra-thin invisible headbands as bases anchored with black bobby pins.

The wardrobe consisted of pure white off-the-shoulder dresses layered with ruffled tiers and lace sleeve cuffs. Fabrics of this nature can easily look flat on camera, so while putting them on, I deliberately arranged the pleats of the skirts to ensure ample flounce and volume when seated or kneeling. The wings on our backs were standalone modular components, requiring the straps to be seamlessly concealed. To evoke that ethereal celestial aura, we brought a plush white rug to spread out in a corner of the convention hall. The prop crew also prepared a small white cross.

Upon arriving on set, photographer NightDiva first inspected the venue lighting. The overhead lighting inside the indoor hall was cool-toned, while natural light filtering through the glass curtain walls shifted over time; we selected a relatively stable corner, setting up softboxes for fill light to prevent skin tones from looking ashen. During shooting, our four primary poses were anchored to the floor: single-knee kneeling, sitting sideways, lying flat, and sitting face-to-face.

The kneeling pose tested thigh lines the most. To prevent the skirt hem from creasing rigidly, we gently flared the ruffles outward by hand. In Photo 1 and the cover Photo 2, holding hands required precise gaze control. Ram has pink hair and a straightforward, decisive demeanor, whereas Rem has blue hair with a calm, gentle nature. In our eye contact, Ram's gaze needed to be firm and steadfast, while Rem's carried embracing softness. Holding the cross required wrists suspended slightly in the air without rigidity to accentuate the lightness of the wings and halo.

Photo 4 featured a seated pose with legs extended, framed primarily to display the white socks and leg contours. White frilly socks paired with white dresses unified the visual aesthetic, yet the ankle angle and muscle relaxation were paramount. Tensing too hard looked forced, while relaxing completely lacked vitality. The photographer adjusted camera height to avoid awkward edge distortion while throwing the background crowds and light stands into soft focus.

The top-down perspective in Photo 3 was another angle we explored. Lying on the plush rug with limbs intertwined demanded pure organic ease. We had to coordinate the placement of hands and legs carefully to avoid obscuring our faces. The white feathers and attire formed a striking contrast against the grey concrete floor, lending the frame a holy collision between purity and 2D aesthetics.

This photoshoot took nearly half a month of prep from concept to final delivery. From trimming wigs to fine-tuning props, every stage required patience.
