For the China International Comics Festival (CICF) Convention photos, I chose the Kokomi cosplay bunny outfit look that I've always wanted to try. The lighting conditions on the first day of the expo were fantastic; shooting against the light cast a soft warm glow over hair strands and contours, creating an effect even dreamier than expected. The wig was the highlight of this styling, transitioning from pinkish-white to light blue with distinct layering in the hair strands, while hairpins featured an asymmetrical drop design that beautifully contoured the face. The bunny ears were made of soft material with great internal support, retaining their shape without noticeable deformation throughout the day. The dark blue bow tie at the neckline was the finishing touch; paired with pearl-luster hardware and the gemstone pendant beneath, it created a sharp color contrast against the light-toned outfit, delivering a wonderful brightening effect. Paired with white short gloves, the visual look was clean and crisp, while the colorful beaded bracelet on the wrist prevented the arms from appearing too plain.
The costume attempted this time incorporated several adjustments in tailoring. The neckline was designed with off-the-shoulder ruffles, which was quite a test of endurance in an exhibition venue with large temperature differences between indoors and outdoors. Although styled as a bunny suit, it preserved the authentic charm of the Genshin Impact character. The shooting process went very smoothly; the photographer caught a sliver of side-backlighting that enveloped me in a gentle halo. Venue lighting at the China International Comics Festival is quite complex, but using a wide aperture to blur the background made the composition look clean, with golden bokeh circles blending naturally.
The convention floor was bustling as always, with many fellow fans passing by complimenting the look and even inquiring about the sources of the wig and accessories. In truth, preparing such a complete outfit takes considerable time: from combing the wig and securing the brooches to wearing the gloves, every step requires considering how to move and pose without hindrance. Especially with wide movement ranges, the tying method and internal support for the large dark-blue bow were crucial to prevent it from losing its shape while walking; fortunately, preparation was thorough this time.
Another great joy of attending conventions is meeting many photographers and friends. This photo captured a very natural candid state without forced tension in facial expressions; subtle lighting adjustments in post-processing maximized the atmospheric mood while faithfully preserving the texture and authentic colors of the costume. Bringing a character to an anime convention is a fresh experience every time—not just for getting photos, but as another way to connect with the work. As a renowned convention, the China International Comics Festival provided venues and lighting conditions that were very accommodating for shooting Convention photos; while I regret not having more time to test other angles, leaving with this satisfying shot was more than enough.
Finally, regarding the styling coordination, I feel that a light-colored wig paired with detailed neckline and cuff designs is ideal for those who favor a clean aesthetic. If anyone plans to cosplay a similar look at conventions, I recommend paying extra attention to fabric breathability and wig fastening so you can enjoy the event more comfortably. Although adjusting garments and styling is exhausting, seeing the final photos and the sheer happiness of participating in the convention completely offset all the fatigue. The hand gesture was designed to be naturally relaxed, working with the drape of the bow tie to project the character's approachable demeanor. The camera was positioned slightly above eye level, which accentuated refined facial contours. Despite the heavy foot traffic during the expo, we deliberately scouted a less crowded spot with great lighting beforehand to ensure a clean background. The gripping posture of the white gloves in hand served as another nice detail, preventing poses from looking stiff. Every convention appearance deepens my understanding of the character; presenting this Kokomi cosplay bunny look in a more casual, everyday expression while preserving youthful girlish charm made for a truly fulfilling experience in Genshin Impact cosplay.
