[Robin cosplay] Swimsuit Kotori and Terrace photography Behind-the-Scenes

"If wings get soaked in water... they probably won't be able to fly, right?" Although it was a joke, while shooting this Swimsuit Kotori BTS on the terrace today, I truly felt how heavy feathers get once they absorb water. When I first put on these prop wings from Sanfen Wangxiang, they glistened with subtle pearly shimmer under the sunlight and felt remarkably light. However, as the shoot progressed, to capture that Swimsuit Kotori feeling of playing by the water, I moved back and forth in the blue polka-dot bathtub and even intentionally splashed water onto the feathers; the material soaked up water and gained noticeable weight. At 2 PM, the sun shone directly onto the white terrace wall, creating intense glare. The photographer kept asking me to adjust angles to avoid harsh facial shadows. Tilting my head, raising a hand, resting my chin—gestures had to remain as natural as possible to coordinate with the golden halo above and the hanging clear sunglasses. For makeup, I chose emerald green contacts to complement the wig's soft blue-purple gradient. The eyeliner was drawn longer, blush placed slightly higher, and delicate rhinestones were applied near the pearl earrings to make the eyes look even more lively on camera. Wearing white ruffled lace garments while posing by the tub meant water spray dampened the sheer tulle against my skin, putting my makeup setting to the test. Fortunately, I carried setting powder and a powder brush the entire time, quickly touching up my nose bridge and forehead whenever we paused. The outfit's texture is fantastic, with spot-on details on the pearl necklace and metal accessories. We chose this venue because of the blue polka-dot bathtub; paired with white brick walls and light wood floors, the clean palette fit the swimsuit theme exceptionally well. The purple sunglasses were a wonderful prop—I held them in hand or wore them on my head, shielding the glare while adding a hint of mystery to the frame. Paired with the off-the-shoulder design, defining collarbone lines under the light required constant adjustments to my breathing and shoulder posture for the best presence. Even though these are photoshoot outtakes, every single photo was thoughtfully composed. My favorite is a close-up selfie-style shot where the light hits my face just right and the pearl accessories gleam in the sun, exuding a refreshing summer feel. The whole session lasted about three hours. Though tiring, as cosplay content, behind-the-scenes moments often hold an extra layer of authenticity and vitality compared to final composite shots. I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the outfit, props, and environment. I participated in both hair/makeup prep and post-retouching, adding subtle highlights along my collarbone and arms for a translucent skin tone. Basking in the breeze on the terrace was refreshing, though finding the light left my face flushed at times, kept at bay only by constant hydration. My takeaway is that behind every gorgeous cosplay lie bags of heavy props and buckets of sweat, but seeing those vibrant moments frozen in time makes it all worthwhile. Next time, I'll tackle it again with lighter wings!
