[Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay] The Cherry Blossom Ghost of Touhou Project: Bringing Late Autumn Illusions

The focus of this chosen set of photos is to showcase the overall visual interpretation of Saigyouji Yuyuko within the Touhou Project universe. The outfit is a light-blue Lolita dress with an off-the-shoulder neckline bordered by intricate lace, which beautifully flatters the collarbones and necklines, while the matching pearl necklace adds an extra layer of refined elegance. The headpiece is a matching blue mob cap topped with small red ornaments. The pink wig was given soft, fluffy curls to fit the character design, showing off wonderful texture under the sunlight.

Special attention was paid to the prop coordination during the shoot. The violet folding fan in hand features gorgeous rib patterns; using it to partially obscure the face or rest at the side adds compelling dimensional depth to the framing. The aqua-blue butterfly props were another key highlight, bringing dynamic vitality to the scene and infusing a hint of magical wonder.

In terms of composition, we experimented with both full-body seated angles and half-body portraits. Because the dress is voluminous and flared, sitting down allowed the skirt hem to spread out gracefully. The seated shots naturally framed the leg lines, which, paired with the white stockings, created smooth continuity and elongated the silhouette. The flare-shaped cuffs lined with white tulle fluttered organically with every gesture. The corseted waist defined the figure cleanly, and the subtle light-blue patterns on the skirt created a delicate cool-and-warm color balance against the cherry blossom background.

The cherry blossoms in the background served as the central motif of this shoot. Even though the character is essentially a ghost, the sea of cherry blossoms bathed the overall palette in soft gentleness. Combined with the wooden lattice doors and stone lanterns, the scene formed an immersive fantasy realm. To channel this mood, I intentionally slowed my movements, trying contemplative leans and over-the-shoulder glances, while keeping my gaze relaxed and languid. For the makeup, I chose cool grayish-blue tones around the eyes to contrast against the pink hair, giving her an aura that felt both vividly alive and enigmatically spectral.

The lighting leaned warm with a soft-focus treatment to make the lace textures pop. The entire set was a heartfelt tribute to the Touhou Project series. We shifted positions repeatedly across the set to find the most harmonious angles with the backdrop. Although the multi-layered garment was quite heavy and somewhat restrictive to move in, I am thoroughly delighted with the final results.
