I originally planned to post this set of The Moonlit Oath Xuanzhao cosplay photos on Weibo Super Topic, but due to some platform mechanism restrictions, multiple attempts failed, which was indeed a bit frustrating. Following a close friend's advice, I decided to test the waters on Xiaohongshu, changing platforms to share the results of this creation with everyone.
The theme of this photoshoot is "Grand Princess Zhaoyang / Xuanzhao." When conceiving this set of photos, I repeatedly tried to feel the imposing aura of Xuanzhao. Her line, "Today, this Palace demands that the world of Dajing turn crimson for me, Xuanzhao!" leaks absolute dominance, so I hoped the visuals could present that innate majesty where the battle flag never falls and commands respect without anger.
Regarding the costume, this time I chose a Hanfu armor battle robe primarily in black, white, and pure red, embellished with golden patterns. The combination of an off-the-shoulder design and water sleeves brings both the sleekness of a general and the magnificence of a grand princess. We put a lot of effort into the entire styling, including the jeweled collar around the neck and the intricate headpiece, complemented by finishing touches of red flowers and fuzzy balls. The prop is a long halberd, which, paired with the flying crimson battle flag, is visually very uplifting.
Special thanks to the photography and styling team. We didn't limit ourselves to an indoor studio shoot, but chose outdoor bamboo forests and open wilderness. The white horse is the soul partner in this set of photos. Under real natural light, the texture of the horse, the metallic luster of the halberd, and the golden threads on the clothes were all beautifully captured, making the frames translucent and magnificent. Especially the frozen frame of riding solo with a raised halberd, standing against the wind, with strong sunlight hitting the edges, making the silhouette highly distinct. I particularly love the sense of power under this authentic light and shadow in this Chinese-style photography session.
As a cosplayer, facial expression management is exceptionally important when interpreting a cool and domineering character like Xuanzhao. I tried lowering my gaze, keeping my eyes sharp, abandoning overly sweet smiles, and letting that pride bleed out from my bones. From costume production and prop customization to on-site shooting and post-processing layout, every member of the team poured a lot of energy into this piece. Although it's a bit of a pity about Weibo, being able to let more people see the details of this work through Xiaohongshu is another kind of reward. I hope my interpretation didn't disappoint anyone, and I wish this touch of Dajing's crimson could touch your heart for a split second.
