[Azur Lane Cosplay] Saint Joan of Arc Qipao: Commander, Let's Release River Lanterns Together

The moment I changed into this white qipao, the image of releasing river lanterns with the Commander in the port came to mind, so I decided to materialize this scene through this studio shoot. Instead of her standard battle gear, this Joan of Arc cosplay opted for a white lace qipao rich in Eastern charm, paired with a floor-length blue cloak trimmed in gold. Under soft, cool-toned lighting, it radiates an ethereal aura that perfectly fits her cool, divine, and sacred presence.

Speaking of the costume, special thanks go to @爪爪匣子 for providing this exquisite outfit. The fabric uses highly breathable white lace with meticulous embroidery details throughout, balancing visual aesthetics with wearing comfort. The faux-fur collar capelet and the long blue cloak serve as the soul of this look; the gold thread embroidery on the cloak reflects brilliantly under studio lights, creating captivating drape and shifts in light and shadow whether walking or sitting. The cut is form-fitting while striking an exquisite balance between sensuality and elegance—especially the high-slit design, which, paired with lace-trimmed white stockings for a White thigh-highs outfit, flatters the leg lines effortlessly.

For the shooting venue, we chose @凉饼铺子_LBPZ62404, whose set was unbelievably atmospheric. The studio was arranged with deep blue drapes, Chinese wooden lattice screens, and bare branches dotted with small white blossoms. The floor was specially laid with a reflective water-ripple film, giving the illusion of walking atop water. This setup demanded high precision in lighting, as floor reflections added a tranquil layer of shimmering water effects, ideal for this sacred blue-and-white styling. Throughout the shoot, the photographer meticulously adjusted the folds of the blue drapes and the cool-white balance to recreate the visual aesthetic of quiet evening reflections on water.

For props, I selected a white wooden oiled-paper umbrella as the core interactive prop. Posing with the umbrella allowed for various dynamics; holding it naturally tilts the body's center of gravity, accentuating graceful curves and creating a lively sense of motion. The umbrella acts as a leading line, guiding the viewer's gaze toward the face, chest, and legs. Great care was also given to pairing the stockings and heels: lace-trimmed white stockings with silver sequined pointed-toe heels looked stunning on the reflective floor, maintaining lightness without feeling heavy to match the airy feel of the qipao.

Looking back, the shoot had its share of small challenges. For instance, the sweeping blue cloak was quite large and required repeated adjustments by the crew to drape naturally over the chair and floor; meanwhile, the white qipao was prone to overexposure under bright lights, requiring precise highlight control to preserve the intricate lace textures. As a cosplayer who loves exploring diverse styles, portraying another facet of Saint Joan of Arc was deeply satisfying. Even if the Commander isn't physically there releasing lanterns, being immersed in this scene of blue water reflections and white petals allowed me to fully embody the moment.
