Let's start right away with the archived photos from the Kuro Carnival; I've finally sorted out the on-site photos for this Wuthering Waves Yangyang look. When I posted earlier saying \"forgotten retouched photos have appeared,\" it was mostly joking about my procrastination, but with the support of the on-site lighting and shadows, the condition and texture of these raw photos are actually quite good, so I decided to share them directly without major retouches.
The costume design this time is exceptionally layered, centered around a black-and-blue color contrast. The vibrant blue halter top on the upper body is paired with a black lining and gold metal rings at the neckline, concentrating the overall visual focus on the shoulders, neck, and collarbones without looking too thin. Around the waist is a wide black leather corset belt; the dark pattern printing and stitching details on its surface are exquisite, and paired with the silver-white metal buckle in the front, it strongly reinforces the character's inherent capable and dashing temperament.
The black leather skirt on the lower body features a diamond-quilted design, boasting strong texture and a body-hugging cut. The bright blue tassels hanging in front of the hem are the finishing touch of the entire outfit, swaying naturally when walking or moving. Paired with a Stocking outfit and leather gloves, it not only enriches the material collision of the styling but also makes the overall lines look cleaner. Finally, adorned with that black-and-white plush bird toy, the character's natural agility is fully brought to life.
In terms of makeup, to match the lighting of the exhibition booth, I intensified the red-toned eyeshadow and blush blending to create a softer, more anime-style atmosphere. The vertical black mark between the eyebrows was deliberately preserved on the forehead, which is a highly recognizable detail in the facial makeup. The wig has a very high accuracy as well—gradient dark grey-black long hair with smooth texture, paired with a beret on top featuring a blue translucent tulle bow, precisely capturing the character's gentle yet slightly playful vibe.
The booth design for this Kuro Carnival was gorgeous, featuring traditional Chinese architectural silhouettes and rockery elements in the background. The blue-purple ambient lights of the booth looked dreamy in person, casting different lusters on the surfaces of the clothes and leather. This kind of ambient light is particularly suitable for shooting cool-toned photos; the whole person gets enveloped in a faint purple and blue light, forming a very harmonious echo with the character's own blue-black outfit colors.
During the shoot, I tried several different states and poses: some quiet and serene, like holding the plush toy against my chest with a slight head tilt, or gently tapping my chin with my index finger in thought; others livelier and more outgoing, like raising one hand high to wave hello or gesturing with extended fingers. Personally, I feel the most vivid part of this photo set is that it preserves the genuine relaxation of the convention site. Because it was on-site candid capture rather than strict fixed-point limits like studio shoots, the body extension feels quite natural.
In fact, every time I cosplay a character, especially participating in such large offline carnivals, the greatest joy is experiencing the love from players and fans up close. Although the black leather skirt material of this costume is heavy and the upper body layers are complex, wearing it to walk back and forth across the booth for most of the day really tests physical stamina. However, seeing the enthusiasm during interactions with on-site audiences and finally receiving this set of archived photos makes all the effort worthwhile.
As my first attempt at this styling, if there's an opportunity in the future, I might shoot some more story-driven outdoor photos specifically for this character. But for now, let's just purely enjoy the film-like feel of this carnival site—the light and shadow, atmosphere, and character temperament are all just right.
