[Marisa cosplay] Touhou Project Convention Photo: Freezing the Takeoff Moment

These Marisa cosplay Convention photos were taken at a CD event. Considering the heavy foot traffic in the venue, we chose a spot near Aisles 4-5 where the background haze created a great atmosphere for capturing a 'takeoff' feel. Before shooting, we coordinated the mid-air leaping pose; since the skirt is voluminous, I had to stand on one leg and raise the other as far back as possible to make the skirt billow. On my feet were black chunky-heel Mary Janes paired with white ruffled socks, an arrangement that flatteringly shapes the legs and stands out prominently against the dark backdrop. The large purplish-pink bow on the hat was very eye-catching, though wearing it for a long time pressed on my forehead; since the hat was slightly large, I secured it firmly with hair clips to keep it from slipping. The wig featured long light-blonde curls, pre-treated with anti-static spray before heading out to prevent tangles. For the outfit, the off-white puff-sleeve top was made of breathable cotton, which tends to wrinkle easily and required meticulous smoothing before the shoot. The lower half consisted of a dark starry skirt patterned with yellow stars and lined in purple, details I absolutely love. With many passersby in the background and chaotic lighting, finding clean angles relied heavily on the photographer. To capture that perfect frame with pointed toes and a beautifully billowing skirt, we took countless shots until my legs felt sore. Walking carefully around the convention floor was also necessary to keep the white Stockings clean. In post-processing, the photographer added golden starburst effects that filled background voids while darkening clutter to highlight the character—a very practical technique for convention photos that creates a clean look. The contrast between the light-colored top and the dark skirt looked wonderful on camera. Despite the physical fatigue, seeing how seriously everyone approached this shoot made it immensely satisfying. Beyond controlling body posture, I had to maintain a composed facial expression; because the hat brim partially blocked my view, I relied entirely on verbal cues from the photographer to adjust the angle of my face. Despite minor hiccups like keeping the sweeping skirt clean and resting stiff feet between takes, the costume's fidelity and quality shone through, making this a rewarding experience.
