Choosing to shoot this Remielle cosplay feature on a city rooftop late at night was primarily to pursue that unique atmosphere where neon and darkness intertwine. To capture the costume details and facial texture in the night view, the photographer @龙骧nightfall put a lot of thought into the lighting, using a main light source to separate the subject from the dark background while preserving the beautiful bokeh of distant city buildings.
Costume accuracy was the focus of the preparation work. To recreate the character's temperament, I wore an eye-catching pink short wig with trimmed straight bangs, and the cross hair ornaments on the side of the hair were carefully secured. The elf ear props and red contact lenses are the finishing touches, instantly maximizing the other-worldly feel of the overall styling. The main costume is a white technical-style dress, where details like straps and metal buckles have a great texture under strong light. The pair of huge white feathered wings behind actually has a certain weight, requiring special care when moving around, otherwise it's easy to lose balance, but once unfolded, the visual tension is full and absolutely worth it.
The white over-the-knee stockings and garter belts on the feet, paired with white pointed-toe high heels, visually elongate the leg lines nicely. Although pretty, making movements on the rooftop really requires a certain sense of balance. The pose in picture 1 with one leg raised and arms slightly spread is one I practiced several times, mainly to maintain the stability of the high heels while letting the skirt hem and wings present a naturally unfolded state, showing a sense of lightness. In picture 2, holding the long sword prop glowing with pink-purple neon light completely changes the aura of the person. To control the lighting effect and the stability of the sword body, the holding posture and force were adjusted for a long time, making the picture look more combat-ready and confident.
The pose leaning against the black railing in picture 3 is mainly to showcase the side structure of the costume, with slightly bent legs making the lines look softer. It was very windy during the night shoot, and the hair and ribbons were often blown messy, which the photographer captured just in time. Picture 4 cuts to a close-up shot, focusing on the upper body's makeup and styling and gaze. Under the night view, the action of fingers lightly touching the lips combined with a slightly lowered gaze can well convey the character's slightly mysterious trait.
From early preparations of costumes, props, and trimming the wig, to adjusting positions and poses on-site according to the light, although the entire process was hard work, seeing the texture in the final photos—especially the tension brought out by the city lights as a background—made all the effort pay off. I hope this night view feature can showcase a different kind of charm of Remielle.
