[Nearl the Radiant Knight cosplay] Light Falls Upon Unrealized Realities

From preparation to completion, considerable thought and effort went into this Nearl the Radiant Knight cosplay shoot themed around Where the light shines in.

For makeup, to reflect her cool and resolute demeanor as a Female knight, a fair matte shade was chosen for the foundation. Earth tones contoured the eye sockets, while eyeliner was elongated with a slight upward flick. Lower lashes were meticulously drawn stroke by stroke with a fine pen; paired with amber-colored contact lenses, her focused gaze became remarkably striking. Lip makeup utilized a deep, dark red tone. The wig featured long, straight golden hair, and trimming the bangs took a particularly long time to achieve distinct layering. The pair of white plush animal ears on top incorporated internal wire framing, requiring multiple angle adjustments to look naturally upright and poised.

The costume's three-tier palette of black, white, and gold provided rich visual depth. The inner black base top featured crisscross straps across the chest, requiring careful tension adjustments when tied to remain structured without appearing constricting. The outer layer was a white coat, with the key highlight being the polyhedral rigid pauldron on the left shoulder. The pauldron's edges were somewhat sharp and carried noticeable weight; adjusting its harness straps and orientation took significant effort, mainly to ensure it appeared at its best before the camera. The gold-backed circular ring ornament on the chest and the sharp golden props in the background were also meticulously coordinated.

During shooting, a single-sided light source was utilized to simulate Where the light shines in, casting a defined chiaroscuro boundary across the facial contours. We calibrated depth of field and aperture to isolate the subject cleanly. For the first shot, the hand placement was readjusted multiple times to harmonize with her proud, majestic aura.

Overall, the straps and armor pieces of this outfit restricted mobility during the actual shoot, meaning poses had to be tailored to follow the garment's contours. In post-production retouching, excessive skin smoothing was avoided in favor of preserving natural skin texture and bone structure, focusing heavily on smooth light-to-shadow transitions and lowering background luminance to let the subject shine. Through this set of photos, I hope to present the authentic texture of her embracing the brilliance within Unrealized Realities in Arknights.
