"No matter what the prey is, you must give it your all"—this line is my most intuitive understanding of the character Eunectes. Adhering to this philosophy, the birth of this cosplay photoshoot was also full of a hard-fighting spirit. First, in terms of makeup and styling, I recreated the character's black hair with blunt bangs and iconic elf ears, with goggles featuring brown lenses resting on the forehead. The dark inner wear and bright yellow coat form a classic color scheme, paired with mesh, leather straps, and metal kneepads with rivets on the legs, striving to put that wasteland heavy-armored mechanic setting into practice. The makeup leaned toward soft and natural, combined with the character's anime features to make the facial contours look more vivid.
The most unforgettable part this time was definitely those complex props. From small handheld mechanical parts with circuit boards and messy wires, to that heavy weapon/greatshield that gave me a hard time at the subway station. The material, color scheme, and even the winding logic of the wires of the props were meticulously researched, aiming to portray Eunectes's hardcoreness and ruggedness as both an engineer and a warrior. However, this hardcore nature brought tremendous challenges to us in real-world transportation. When we were about to carry the greatshield into the subway, due to its special size and shape, we were politely turned away by the subway station staff on the grounds that it might affect public safety and transit. We had no choice but to change our plans on the fly, shuffling through various means of transportation, and rushed to the shooting location with the heavy equipment, feeling exhausted yet fulfilled.
The shooting location was a ruin with a strong industrial wasteland vibe, scattered with discarded metal frames, yellow caution tape with "FRAGILE" written on it, messy green plants, and panels emitting a cold blue glow. These elements formed a highly visually striking warm-and-cold contrast with the bright yellow attire. Through tilted compositions and tricky high-angle viewing perspectives, the photographer perfectly captured the character's unconventional, lively, and slightly wild temperament, while also fully showcasing the mesh details of the costume and the dynamic poses. The tightness of each leather strap, the position of each metal rivet, and even how the hem of the yellow cloak draped naturally without affecting the movements were all repeatedly debugged by us before the shoot.
As a veteran player, being able to personally participate in the planning, prop preparation, and real-scene shooting of this cosplay photoshoot from start to finish, and experiencing the character's state of mind surviving and fighting in a wasteland world, felt highly meaningful to me. Every time the armor and props were put on, it felt as if I had truly crossed over into that Terra world full of machinery and Originium Arts. Although carrying a bunch of heavy gear at the time was hard work, that is exactly where the fun of Cosplay lies. What we pursue is not just the refinement of the photos, but also that determination to resonate with the character. Players who like Wasteland style and mechanical elements should be able to feel the exclusive mechanical aesthetic that this styling wants to convey, and I hope this love for Cosplay and Arknights can continue forever.
Every single picture in this cosplay photoshoot poured in a lot of the photographer's ingenuity; keeping the black of the clothing from looking flat while retaining texture layers under such a bright outdoor environment heavily tested skills. I hope this set of photos can present Peipei's lighthearted and somewhat adventurous trait.
