From preparation to completion, this Ye Shunguang costume and props took about two months. The main costume has a white base paired with black and yellow lines. The halterneck design is similar to a cheongsam stand collar but with a more flexible cut, and the skirt hem is asymmetrical—shorter in the front and longer in the back. The advantage of this design is that when walking or posing, it reveals leg lines and increases visual layering. A black waist corset and yellow tassels are added at the waist, along with some metal-textured accessories on the chest and waist.

The giant broadsword in hand is the highlight. The blade features a red, black, and gray color scheme, coupled with geometric cutouts and a yellow circular mechanism, giving it a very weighty feel in design. To be able to hold it up with one hand and strike a relaxed pose during shooting, I made some adjustments to the prop's counterweight. The long red tassel tied at the hilt has an especially great hang time when swung, and the captured frames are full of tension. The huge brown plush tail behind is also a soul accessory; it features a layered design, which can well balance the weight of the overall frame during sitting or side-profile poses, preventing the upper body from looking too thin. The arms are bound with white bandages and black wristbands, paired with circular metal decorations on the thighs, maximizing the details.

In terms of makeup and hair, the brown long hair has black highlights, matched with red strip-like hair accessories on top of the head, a red-and-white flower knot on the left, and a white headband. Overall, it gives a feeling of intertwined battle damage and magnificence. The makeup focuses on red contact lenses and a slightly red-brown eye makeup, combined with red lip makeup, which highlights the character's sharp yet cool-and-detached intertwined temperament without losing facial dimension under strong light.

The outdoor location was chosen in a park with bamboo and traditional Chinese architecture. It happened to be autumn, with fallen leaves on the ground and relatively soft light. The first standing pose mainly aims to showcase the full view and the oppressive feel of the giant sword; holding the sword with one hand while leaning the body slightly sideways visually makes the figure appear sleeker. The second is a side-profile look-back action, with back lines and red-and-white ribbons extending backward with the wind, well bringing out the dynamic motion of the frame. The third is my favorite: sitting on stone steps with crossed legs leaning against the railing. On one hand, this posture nicely showcases the pairing of semi-transparent black short socks and black chunky-heeled short boots; on the other hand, it makes the overall posture more relaxed. During shooting, pay attention to slightly pointing the toes for better leg line extension. The fourth is a sitting posture leaning against the railing, with arms resting on the railing supporting the chin, matching wristbands and red armbands, giving a daily sense of a brief rest for an ancient martial arts character.

The fifth picture shows the alternative color version of this styling. The hair was changed to white with black-and-red highlights, hair accessories became a white headband and black star-shaped decorations, the legs were switched to over-the-knee stockings with red flame line textures, and the tail behind was also changed to a white plush version. This color scheme has a stronger contrast, and the combination of black, red, and white looks even more mysterious in a dark indoor corridor scene. When shooting styles with bulky props and tails, action balance is very important; it must showcase the weight of the weapon without appearing overly strained and losing aesthetic beauty, so while keeping the core tight, the shoulders should be relaxed as possible. In outdoor scenes with wind, ribbons and hair get blown messy; don't rush to tidy them up at this time, as candid shots often capture frames with greater dynamic beauty. Through this shoot, I also gained a deeper understanding of physical expression in ancient fantasy themes, and look forward to presenting more story-driven frames in the future.
