This time, I'm bringing you a photoshoot of Shimoe Koharu in her Maid outfit from Blue Archive. The core of the styling centers on a pink-and-white maid dress, anchored by an oversized pink ribbon across the chest as the visual focus, complemented by clean layering across the white lace apron and skirt hem. Echoing her signature traits, I coordinated a delicate black choker, twin black feather headpieces on either side of the head, and a black tail prop trailing behind. The pink halo prop floating overhead is the character's true soul; framing it required constant repositioning during shooting to avoid harsh reflections or visible mounting fixtures.
For the wig, I went with long straight locks in pastel pink featuring blunt bangs, trimming the sideburns carefully to flatter my facial contours. Embracing her distinctive 2D anime aesthetic, I chose purplish-red contact lenses, accented defined eyelashes and aegyo sal, and blended soft pink eyeshadow around the lids to channel that innocent yet cheeky persona before the lens. The complexion was kept pristine and translucent, topped with a dewy pink lip glaze.
We staged the shoot in an indoor café packed with cartoon elements. The set was dressed with an oversized white cat plushie, a vintage pink landline telephone, and assorted pastel decorations, wonderfully complementing the sugary warmth of the maid dress. For posing, I incorporated heart gestures, lifting the skirt hem with one leg slightly raised, and clasping hands gently over the chest. These gestures not only highlighted garment craftsmanship, but also infused the character with dynamic vitality.
During the session, to showcase the tiered skirt volume and leg contours, the photographer explored varied low and three-quarter angles. Because the maid skirt is quite voluminous, lifting the hem required gentle control so the lace ruffles draped naturally. Lighting-wise, we relied predominantly on soft, diffused ambient illumination, brightening facial features cleanly while preventing the pink and white textiles from appearing washed out or harsh.
For facial expressions, I tested various nuances, striving to sustain that slightly tsundere yet thoroughly adorable demeanor. Faithful cosplay execution extends beyond the wardrobe—prop placement, skirt curvature, and even the pairing of Mary Jane shoes with white lace socks all contribute to seamless overarching harmony. The session went exceptionally smoothly, with the set's color palette aligning effortlessly with the costume.
