[Lumine Cosplay] Traveler by the Pool on a Rainy Night, and the Promise of Ultimate Reunion

The shoot for this set was completely an unplanned, spur-of-the-moment idea. The weather forecast predicted rain, but we carried our gear to this outdoor pool anyway. The venue was actually very dark, with the primary light source relying entirely on a row of small warm lamps on the arch bridge to the right and faint reflections on the water surface; however, I must admit this atmosphere happened to perfectly match the character's sense of solitude and resolute resilience during her journey on a rainy night.

Outfit-wise, I chose a backless design this time; although the night wind was very strong and cold that evening, I had to tough it out for the final photo quality. The black crisscross straps on the back and the white fabric skirt are truly the soul of this costume, beautifully presenting flowing motion during movement. The craftsmanship of the weapon props (prop sword) is solid, with an ergonomic hilt curve that feels comfortable to hold, and its metallic texture looks particularly sharp in the dark. The floral and bow hair ornaments atop the head matched this dim environment surprisingly well; though some details were easily swallowed by darkness during night shooting, the faint lighting outlined the contours, leaving plenty of room for imagination instead.

The challenge of shooting lay not only in the rainy weather, but also in the slippery ground near the pool edge. To capture that silky thread-like effect of falling rain, we tried shutter speeds repeatedly. Choosing a pure back-view composition heavily tested body language and standing posture. Without excessive movements, the atmosphere of resilience tempered with subtle softness had to be conveyed entirely through shoulder relaxation, sword-grip strength, and the drape of the cape. Reflections on the pool surface added tremendous value; warm-toned light refracting off the water enriched dark-area color depth significantly.

Regarding makeup and hair styling, this short length paired with light golden hair can easily make skin tones appear dull under night lighting, so we made special adjustments in lighting setup and reflectors to give the overall photo an interwoven warm-and-cool visual effect. Many details—such as bow knot ties and waist accessory fastenings—were repeatedly adjusted prior to going on location to ensure they wouldn't shift under blowing winds or walking movements. Although we reshot many times due to obscured vision and focus issues during the session, seeing the light bokeh on the water and the granular feel of raindrops striking the shoulders in the final images made all the effort completely worth it.

As someone who constantly insists on trying different artistic styles, I deeply cherish photoshoot opportunities like this where character temperament and environmental atmosphere are deeply intertwined. Outdoor photography at night differs from bright studio settings or daylight shoots; it demands extreme control over light and mood, especially in scenes with water reflections and light drizzle, where the slightest misstep results in pitch-black frames or overexposed subjects. Fortunately, our team shares a deep tacit understanding for this genre of shoot, which is why I was able to capture the back-view dynamics so effectively in the end.

In truth, every time I put on this gear, I feel a special sense of belonging—perhaps because the character's emotional journey of searching for guidance across long travels resonates beautifully with the quiet, cold outdoor night environment. I restrained myself from forcing grand storytelling into the frame, focusing instead on recording authentic feelings like the night breeze rustling my hair and raindrops tapping the lake surface. Sharing this photo today serves as a small summary of my recent busy days.
