[Kokomi Cosplay] Genshin Impact Sangonomiya Kokomi: Light and Dreamy Outdoor Cosplay Convention Photos

As the featured cosplayer, this time I'm sharing Cosplay convention photos of Sangonomiya Kokomi from Genshin Impact.

In terms of costume selection, to recreate this character's Hydro Vision and dreamy qualities, I specifically selected this short tulle dress with a pink-and-blue gradient. The lower hem features a multi-layered fluffy design, paired with off-the-shoulder sheer ribbons, offering a wonderful sense of fluid motion while walking. The wig is light pink with blue tips, and the twin tails on both sides carry decorations resembling small white wings and feathers, along with delicate metal chain hair accessories, staying as close as possible to the airy lightness of the original design in details.

For makeup, I selected a pair of bright blue colored contacts to highlight my eyes, combined with reddish eyeshadow in the eye makeup to make my gaze look softer and slightly mysterious. The metal choker with a small pendant on the neck is also key to elevating the delicacy of this look, presenting great texture under natural outdoor light.

The shooting location was an outdoor plaza with a background of semi-open metal railings and autumn trees, creating a serene ambiance when blurred in the distance. The natural outdoor light was very soft without harsh shadows, giving the overall color tone of the photos a fresh and aesthetic feel. Since pedestrians were moving around the venue, the shooting process for these Cosplay convention photos was quite fun. We needed to quickly strike poses and press the shutter during gaps in foot traffic and at proper lighting angles.

I mainly did two different poses: one was the classic gesture of raising a hand to make a V-sign, showcasing the character's relaxed and playful side; the other was slightly opening my arms, letting the breeze blow the purple ribbons behind me, capturing that moment of lively, fluttering energy. Photographer Mubai was very precise with candid snapshots, ensuring the fluffiness of the skirt was presented wonderfully in the frame.

In terms of character detail accuracy, I feel it's not just about wearing the costume, but more importantly about posture and expression. In her setting, Kokomi is a very gentle and wise leader, so I appropriately kept my mouth relaxed to project a soft, composed tone in my expression. The shoulder design of this outfit features off-the-shoulder sheer tulle connected with metal rings, a small touch that looked exceptionally photogenic during actual shooting.

Actually, before every cosplay shoot, there is quite a bit of prep work—especially when balancing the wig color with the costume's dye gradient to find a sweet spot. The tulle dress material this time was very light, producing almost no heavy feeling while walking, which allowed me to move more freely and better cooperate with the photographer in capturing moments when the breeze blew through the skirt hem.

Many times people feel that convention photos are less polished than formal photoshoots, but I've always felt that convention photos have their own unique charm because they record the most authentic, natural state in convention or outdoor settings. This sense of reality in Anime-style photography under natural light without excessive artificial lighting often presents another side of the character in the real world.

When taking this set of photos, the wind was actually quite strong that day; while it gave the ribbons great dynamic movement, it also increased the difficulty of focusing and maintaining posture. However, the final resulting photos were very satisfying, and this natural sense of "blending person with scenery" truly hit my aesthetic sweet spot. As a photography enthusiast and model with cosplay as a hobby, being able to recreate a beloved character and leave behind clear, high-texture photographic works is a very fulfilling achievement in itself.

Although this dress looks very ethereal, handling it required constantly tidying up the skirt hem and wig during operation to prevent photos from being less than perfect due to exposure or angle issues. Shooting in the cold wind was definitely a physical workout, but sweating a bit or braving the cold wind was completely worth it to capture satisfying dynamic moments and fluttering skirts.

Beyond well-prepared wigs and costumes, natural elements like light and wind become indispensable parts of the frame.
